Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
   The sad news has returned to us.
Jimmy Strickland, Class of 1957, passed away in Hampton on Monday, July 09, 2018 at the age of 78.

   He was the brother of Jerry Strickland, Marty Strickland, Sandy Strickland, and Dixie Strickland Crisp, and of the late Robert Strickland, Linda Strickland Seward (d. 11/20/05), and Ann Strickland.

HAMPTON - James "Jimmy" E. Strickland, 78, of Hampton passed away July 9, 2018.

Jimmy was born December 18, 1939 in Waycross, Georgia. He moved to Virginia where he has resided since 1953.

He is preceded in death by his son, Jim, his parents, J.H. & Kizzie Strickland and his siblings, Robert, Linda and Ann.

Jimmy loved the outdoors especially hunting and fishing. He graduated from Newport News High School in 1957 and began his 51 year career as an auto painter.

Jimmy was a proud member of West Hampton Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Sylvia, his son, Randy (Sandi), and grandson, Trent (Lauren). He is also survived by his siblings, Jerry, Marty (Barbara), Sandy (Wanda), and Dixie (Eddie), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jimmy will be sorely missed by his canine companions, Crystal and Rocky.

Family will receive friends Friday, July 13th at 10:00 a.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Brian Adams officiating. The Burial will be at Peninsula Memorial Park.
