For Your Precious Love

“Friendships are fragile things, and require as much handling
as any other fragile and precious thing.”

- Randolph Bourne
(30 May 1886 - 22 Dec 1918)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

I think it's time for a sad old love song - but then, I almost always think it's time for a sad old love song.

BONUS - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2y7bWN2u1s&feature=related - For Your Precious Love - Jerry Butler and the Inspirations, 1958

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/For_your_precious_love:

"For Your Precious Love" is a song written by Arthur Brooks, Richard Brooks and Jerry Butler, and performed by Butlers' group The Impressions in 1958. It was released as a single on Vee-Jay Records and peaked at number 11 on the Billboard Best Sellers in Stores and Top 100 charts. The song was ranked as the 327th greatest song of all-time by Rolling Stone magazine in 2004.

The song has been covered numerous times with many versions reaching the US charts as well, including a new version by Butler himself, who peaked at number 99 on the Hot 100 chart in March 1966.

The 1968 version in South Africa by Durban group, The Flames, reached the top spot on the local charts[1] and has been considered a classic in the country ever since.

FINALLY:
From www.ajokeaday.com - 07/08/16:

A woman with a minor injury was at the hospital because her doctor said she wanted to take a closer look at it to make sure everything was all right. The woman's husband sat patiently in the waiting room.
After a few minutes, the doctor came out and asked her assistant for a wrench, which understandably concerned the husband.

Then, after a couple more moments, the doctor re-entered the room, this time asking for a screwdriver. The husband grew worried and began to pace in circles.

Then, a little later, the doctor burst through the doors screaming for a hammer and at that, the husband, in a state of frenzied fear, ran up and asked, "Doctor, what the heck is wrong with my wife?"

"I don't know," replied the flustered doctor, "I can't get my bag open!"

For Your Precious Love

Written by Jerry Butler (b. 08 Dec 1939), 1958

Recorded by Jerry Butler and The Impressions, 1958

Your precious love means more to me
Than any love could ever be.
For when I wanted you,
I was so lonely and blue,
For That's what love will do
And darling, I'm so surprised,
Oh, When I first realized
That you were fooling me.

And darling, they say that our love won't grow.
But I just want to tell them they don't know.
For as long as you're in love with me,
Our love will grow wider,
Deeper than any sea.

And of all the things that I want,
In this whole wide world, is
Just for you to say that you'll be my girl.
Wanting you, I'm so lonely and blue.
That's what love will do.
