A Blossom Fell

“I believe that life is a journey, often difficult and sometimes
incredibly cruel, but we are well equipped for it if only we tap
into our talents and gifts and allow them to blossom.”

- Les Brown
(b. 1945)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Nat King Cole keeps singing this old song to me.

BONUS - - A Blossom Fell - Nat King Cole

"A Blossom Fell" is a popular song.

It was written by Howard Barnes, Harold Cornelius, and Dominic John and published in 1954.

The best-known version was recorded by Nat King Cole. The recording was released by Capitol Records as catalog number 3095. The B-side was "If I May." The record first reached the Billboard magazine charts on April 27, 1955 and lasted 20 weeks on the chart, peaking at #2.[1] (Note that in this era, Billboard combined data for both sides of two-sided hits, so the #2 status applies to the combination of "A Blossom Fell" and "If I May").

From Frank Blechman ('65) of Northern VA - 07/07/15 - "Today":

Not surprised to see Mahler featured today, but you know, it is also the birthday of musical star Doc Severinsen (1927). SURELY worth a mention one of these July 7ths.

Why, certainly, Frank, that's a great idea! Now all I need to do is remember it for a full year!

I've put it on my schedule, but if you could give me a head's up along about July 5, 2016, that would be great!

From - 07/07/15:
During the initial space flights, Nasa discovered that biro pens didn’t work under zero gravity conditions.

To beat the problem, Nasa spent 6 years and $2 million in designing a pen for use in space.

The pen would work under zero gravity conditions due to the pressurized ink inside, it would work under sub zero conditions, underwater, on glass and virtually any surface known to man.

The Russians used a pencil.

A Blossom Fell

Written by Howard Barnes, Harold Cornelius, and Dominic John, 1954

Recorded by Nat King Cole (17 Mar 1919 - 15 Feb 1965), 1955

A blossom fell... from off a tree.
It settled softly on the lips you turned to me.
The gypsies say, and I know why
"A falling blossom only touches lips that lie."

A blossom fell... and very soon
I saw you kissing someone new beneath the moon.
I thought you loved me, you said you loved me.
We planned together to dream forever.
The dream has ended, for true love died,
The night a blossom fell, and touched two lips that lied.

A blossom fell... and very soon
I saw you kissing someone new beneath the moon.
I thought you loved me, you said you loved me.
We planned together to dream forever.
The dream has ended, for true love died,
The night a blossom fell, and touched two lips that lied.
