A Blossom Fell

I believe that life is a journey, often difficult and sometimes
incredibly cruel, but we are well equipped for it if only we tap
into our talents and gifts and allow them to blossom.

- Les Brown
(b. 1945)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Nat King Cole keeps singing this old song to me.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Blossom_Fell:

"A Blossom Fell" is a popular song.

It was written by Howard Barnes, Harold Cornelius, and Dominic John and published in 1954.

The best-known version was recorded by Nat King Cole. The recording was released by Capitol Records as catalog number 3095. The B-side was "If I May." The record first reached the Billboard magazine charts on April 27, 1955 and lasted 20 weeks on the chart, peaking at #2.[1] (Note that in this era, Billboard combined data for both sides of two-sided hits, so the #2 status applies to the combination of "A Blossom Fell" and "If I May").

From Judy Phillips Allen ('66) of VA - 07/07/14 - "My visit to McDonalds...":

My visit to McDonalds...

There was a bit of confusion at McDonalds this morning.

When I was ready to pay for my food, the cashier said, "Strip down, facing me."

Making a mental note to complain to my local Congressman about security running amok, I did just as she had instructed.

When the hysterical shrieking had finally subsided, I found out that she was referring to my MasterCard.

I have been asked to eat elsewhere in the future.

They need to make instructions to us Seniors a little clearer!

     Thanks, Dearest Judy!

A Blossom Fell

Written by Howard Barnes, Harold Cornelius, and Dominic John, 1954

Recorded by Nat King Cole (17 Mar 1919 - 15 Feb 1965), 1955

A blossom fell... from off a tree.
It settled softly on the lips you turned to me.
The gypsies say, and I know why
"A falling blossom only touches lips that lie."

A blossom fell... and very soon
I saw you kissing someone new beneath the moon.
I thought you loved me, you said you loved me.
We planned together to dream forever.
The dream has ended, for true love died,
The night a blossom fell, and touched two lips that lied.

(interlude)

A blossom fell... and very soon
I saw you kissing someone new beneath the moon.
I thought you loved me, you said you loved me.
We planned together to dream forever.
The dream has ended, for true love died,
The night a blossom fell, and touched two lips that lied.
