From Peggy Johnson ('60) of VA - 07/06/17:
John Frederick Michie Jr. (Fred) passed away June 24. He was 95 and went to NNHS. Not sure of the year. He had been a resident at The Hidenwood for several years. He noticed and commented when I put NNHS Alumni license plate holders on my car. He was quite a character, and I will miss seeing and talking to him when I visit my mother at The Hidenwood.
Thank you so much, Peggy Sue. I thought when I read the obituary of this charming man he was probably one of "ours", but in the face of a lack of compelling evidence, I decided to let it slide. As it turns out, the evidence was in my files all the time. You have my deepest condolences on the loss of such a delightful friend.

Jesus, Savior, Pilot Me
Words by Edward Hopper (1816-1888)
Music by John E. Gould (1822-1875)
Jesus Savior, pilot me over life's tempestuous sea;
Unknown waves before me roll, hiding rock and treacherous shoal;
Chart and compass came from Thee; Jesus, Savior, pilot me.
As a mother stills her child, Thou canst hush the ocean wild;
Boisterous waves obey Thy will, when Thou say'st to them "Be still!"
Wondrous Sov'reign of the sea, Jesus, Savior, pilot me.
When at last I near the shore and the fearful breakers roar,
'Twixt me and the peaceful rest; then, while leaning on Thy breast,
May I hear Thee say to me, "Fear not, I will pilot thee."
"And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea.
Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm."
- Mark 4:39
