  Thank you, Joan!

 From Bonnie Loughran Marshall (Hampton HS - '65) of MN - 07/04/20, 10:52 PM:

Dear Carol,

Received your updates today.

I am so sorry your husband is dealing with serious medical issues. I will hold you both in prayer for healing.

I knew of Rollie Hamel, Cutest Boy in the Class of 1966 as 'Barbara's (Hamel Flynn [St. Vincent Central HS - '64]) little brother' from my 2 years at St. Vincent's back in 61-63. May they both rest in peace.

And the Ebb Tide... I believe there was a dance club in Phoebus by that name in the late 60's.

The private fireworks here (MN) have been getting louder and closer all day. I think they relaxed what can be privately purchased. Best wishes to you and all our Hampton Roads pals on this glorious July 4th and always!!

Bonnie Loughran Marshall

   Thank you ever so much, Bonnie! I so appreciate your prayers!

   From My Cousin, Jean Atkinson Mallory (Warsaw HS / Rappahannock HS / John Marshall HS - '65) of VA - 07/05/18:

     Thank you, Jean! Yeah, what is the Big Magilla with getting this right? We learned all these easy-peasy rules in third grade if we weren't taught them at home, and if we still didn't catch on, we've surely had a year or two since then.

   More to the point, we're supposed to be mellowing, right? Why, then, is it that the older I get, the nuttsier that infractions of these simple rules make me?? ARGHHH!

 From Jerry Blanchard ('62) of VA - 07/05/17:

  Thank you, Jerry!

  From My Cousin, Cheryl White Wilson (James Blair HS / John Marshall HS - '64) of VA - 07/04/20, 10:26 AM:
  Thanks, Cheryl!

Navy Recipes - "797 Recipes"

From - 07/05/18:

An old-time pastor was riding furiously down the road, hurrying to get to church on time. Suddenly, his horse stumbled and threw him to the ground.

Lying in the dirt, his body wracked with pain, the pastor called out, “All you angels in heaven, help me get up on my horse!”

With extraordinary strength, he leaped onto the horse’s back—and fell off the other side. From the ground again, he called out, “All right, just half of you angels this time!”

The Navy Hymn: Eternal Father, Strong to Save

Music (the hymn Melita) by J.B Dykes,
Lyrics by William Whiting,
Arranged by Dave Kahn

Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidd'st the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard
And hushed their raging at Thy word,
Who walked'st on the foaming deep,
And calm amidst its rage didst sleep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

Most Holy Spirit! Who didst brood
Upon the chaos dark and rude,
And bid its angry tumult cease,
And give, for wild confusion, peace;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

O Trinity of love and power!
Our brethren shield in danger's hour;
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect them wheresoe'er they go;
Thus evermore shall rise to Thee
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.
