The Child Health Site   Provide free mammograms!   The Hunger Site

URGENT PLEA: Following Paul's latest health scare, my two youngest children in California are desperately trying
to find a way to get home to see their father one last time before it grows too late.
They have raised over half the cost, but are falling short and time is of the essence.
If you are able to contribute any amount, no matter how great or small, our family would be eternally grateful. Thank you so much.

  Thank you, Joan!

  From Billy Turner ('65) of TX - 07/05/18, 1:21 PM:

Hi Carol.

Hope all is well with you and your family. God Bless you and your husband. I pray his health issues are improving and that you are given the strength to carry on for him and your children. Thanks once again for your dedication to the NNHS alumni. I remain “Billy Turner” class of 65.

   Billy Turner (still all one word )! Thank you so much! It's so delightful to hear from you! I haven't talked to you in what seems like forty-eleven years!

   Paul and I both seem to be better now than we were on Wednesday, so maybe there's hope for us both yet!

 From Bill Hobbs ('66) of Northern VA - 07/01/18 - "Qualifying to be a Limo Driver for the President":

Qualifying to be a Limo Driver for the President:

As I recall, the drivers in the president’s motorcade – known as “The Beast” – are trained and able to spontaneously reverse direction in unison should there ever be a threat to the president that requires them to quickly extract the president and themselves from the danger.

The attached video is about the President’s limo driver. You’ve never seen anything like this before. When you take into account that the Secret Service limo driver for the President is driving a 12,000 lb. automobile at speeds up to 60 mph, in reverse, over a one-mile course, it’s even more amazing.

This car has about 800 horsepower. The vehicle the President uses also is weaponized and uses a totally independent air conditioning system with its own oxygen supply in case there is any sort of aerosol poison in its vicinity.

   WOWZERONI-YOWZERONI! Thank you, Billy! Having achieved a Lifetime Award for Ultimate Wieniusness, I now find that I can scarcely bear to ride (on those occasions when I am pried from my home and forced to venture outside) in a car exceeding 45 miles an hour moving forward, so as you might imagine, just watching this video nearly gave me a coronary.

   From My Cousin, Jean Atkinson Mallory (Warsaw HS / Rappahannock HS / John Marshall HS - '65) of VA - 07/05/18:

     Thank you, Jean! Yeah, what is the Big Magilla with getting this right? We learned all these easy-peasy rules in third grade if we weren't taught them at home, and if we still didn't catch on, we've surely had a year or two since then.

   More to the point, we're supposed to be mellowing, right? Why, then, is it that the older I get, the nuttsier that infractions of these simple rules make me?? ARGHHH!

 From Jerry Blanchard ('62) of VA - 07/05/17:

  Thank you, Jerry!

    From Linda May Bond Crayton ('66) of VA - 07/05/16:

  Thank you, Shari!

From - 07/05/18:

An old-time pastor was riding furiously down the road, hurrying to get to church on time. Suddenly, his horse stumbled and threw him to the ground.

Lying in the dirt, his body wracked with pain, the pastor called out, “All you angels in heaven, help me get up on my horse!”

With extraordinary strength, he leaped onto the horse’s back—and fell off the other side. From the ground again, he called out, “All right, just half of you angels this time!”

The Navy Hymn: Eternal Father, Strong to Save

Music (the hymn Melita) by J.B Dykes,
Lyrics by William Whiting,
Arranged by Dave Kahn

Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidd'st the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard
And hushed their raging at Thy word,
Who walked'st on the foaming deep,
And calm amidst its rage didst sleep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

Most Holy Spirit! Who didst brood
Upon the chaos dark and rude,
And bid its angry tumult cease,
And give, for wild confusion, peace;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

O Trinity of love and power!
Our brethren shield in danger's hour;
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect them wheresoe'er they go;
Thus evermore shall rise to Thee
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.
