      From Dave Arnold ('65) of VA - 05/11/10:

The NNHS Class of 1965 will hold its 45-Year Reunion on Friday and Saturday, October 15 and 16, 2010 - which is OPEN to all classes!

Friday evening we will meet at R.J.'s Restaurant and Sports Bar. The only cost will be what you choose to eat and drink. The company will be priceless.

Saturday will be spent at Newport News Park. We've reserved a group shelter that can seat 150 people with sufficient cover to take care of any weather concerns. If you made it to the 55th Birthday Party you'll recall it was held at the Park in one of the smaller shelters. The facility we're using this time is a new addition and will give us lots of flexibility to meet and reminisce. The cost of this event is $15.00 per person through August 31, 2010. After that date the cost will be $20.00 per person. The charge for Saturday will cover your food and beverages.

I'LL TAKE ALL THE FUN I CAN GET!

WOW! what fun!!!!! -A-

This is really fun to watch, even if you're not an opera fan.  Click below and enjoy.......

On Saturday, April 24th, 2010, over thirty members of the Opera Company of Philadelphia Chorus and principal cast members from the upcoming production of La Traviata converged on the Reading Terminal Market Italian Festival.

Wearing street clothes and blending in with the crowd, the artists swung into action as the first orchestral strains of the famed opera were piped through the market, giving a rousing, surprise performance for hundreds of delighted onlookers who were there to enjoy the Italian delicacies and the everyday treats that the Reading Terminal Market has to offer.

The four-minute piece drew an overwhelming crowd, and won a thunderous ovation that included both laughter and tears from the audience.

   OH, thank you so much, Dearest Judy! It so happens I AM an opera fan! Moreover, I've waited all my life for a musical to suddenly burst out around me - spontaneous or otherwise!

From ArcaMax Jokes - 07/05/10:

The Gutter

"Do you remember first meeting your wife?"

"Sure, I found Jill lying face down in the gutter. I lifted her to her feet and promised her that if she agreed to marry me, she would begin a new life and I'd never allow her near the gutter again."

"Wow, I hope she appreciates what you did for her."

"Not really. Jill hated to give up bowling."

The Navy Hymn: Eternal Father, Strong to Save

Music (the hymn Melita) by J.B Dykes,
Lyrics by William Whiting,
Arranged by Dave Kahn

Eternal Father, strong to save,
Whose arm hath bound the restless wave,
Who bidd'st the mighty ocean deep
Its own appointed limits keep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

O Christ! Whose voice the waters heard
And hushed their raging at Thy word,
Who walked'st on the foaming deep,
And calm amidst its rage didst sleep;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

Most Holy Spirit! Who didst brood
Upon the chaos dark and rude,
And bid its angry tumult cease,
And give, for wild confusion, peace;
Oh, hear us when we cry to Thee,
For those in peril on the sea!

O Trinity of love and power!
Our brethren shield in danger's hour;
From rock and tempest, fire and foe,
Protect them wheresoe'er they go;
Thus evermore shall rise to Thee
Glad hymns of praise from land and sea.

As for the MIDI:

JPJ is buried in the crypt beneath the Naval Academy Chapel.
Perhaps the Navy Hymn would be appropriate:
