“I am convinced that if we are to continue to have the freedoms which
came of the inspiration of the almighty to our founding fathers, we must
return to the god who is their true author. We need to worship Him in
spirit and in truth. We need to acknowledge His all-powerful hand. We
need to humble ourselves before Him and seek His guidance in all that
concerns matters of state.”

From Wayne Vest ('67) of GA - 07/04/16:
|What does the 4th of July
mean to you? Well, everyone knows that it's Independence Day, but do you
know the sacrifice and suffering that goes along with it?
Everyone has heard the saying, "Freedom isn't really free," and to find out we would have to talk to the men and women who paid the price and gave their all so that we could be free. Taken in content, I think we can safely say that it came at a very high cost.
Now, if you have tender feelings, you may not want to read this and go play marbles. On the other hand, we had draft dodgers, or cowards, that enjoy the freedom but ran to other countries and were pardoned for their sissy ways. As you can see, I have absolutely no respect for them, or Jane Fonda, aka "Hanoi Jane". Well, that's another story, but I do have the highest respect for all our service men and women. Ask them what it's like to be away from their family for a year, to be twelve thousand miles from home, to be gone at Christmas and all holidays and eating c-rations or MRE's while everyone back home is feasting, putting your life on the line every day, and having your friends not come home with you.
Yes, I love my VET brothers and sisters, and we have a special bond that no one else could understand. HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY, AMERICA!!!
Thank you so much, Wayne - and thank you again for your service! I believe the time you spent in Vietnam has earned you the right to express any opinion you want here.
