07/01/04 - NNHS Newsletter - All Newbies!
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
It's been only four
days since our last "Weekly" Newsletter, and we already have TEN
NEWBIES! So they're
getting their own Newsletter, and then we'll move on with the rest of the news
and updates.
Newbies:
#1 - Miles Nowitzky (Granby High - '50) of NC - 06/27/04:
I've noticed my brother-in-law seems
to be reading all the Newsletters. He might as well be on our list, hmm?
Hi, Miles!
#2 - Ronnie Burroughs ('60) of VA - 06/27/04:
Seven minutes after our last Newsletter went out
on
Sunday morning, Ronnie asked to be added to the roles
as well. No problem there! Welcome, Ronnie!
#3 - Gene Ellis ('61) of FL - 06/27/04:
Hmmm - Gene's name, like Miles',
wasn't shown on the Alumni List when he was there all along. Well, it's on
there now! Hi, Gene!
#4 - Kelly Loose Bustamante ('58) of TX - 06/28/04:
Thanks, Kelly! You're on! "Carry me back to..."
# 5 - Nancy Horton Wilkes ('62) of FL - 06/28/04:
What an
unbelievable job you do. I forward everything to my brother Jim Horton in
Scottsdale, AZ,
president of the class of 1955.
Thanks, Nancy!
#6 - Tina Burroughs Farmer ('62) of VA - 06/28/04:
Please add my name/address to your wonderful mailing list ... you're doing a
wonderful job and
I want to be in on it!!
Absolutely! Thanks so much, Tina!
#7 - Bruce Korusek (John Marshall High - '66) - 06/28/04:
Bruce is responsible for all the fascinating old images of buses now appearing here:
http://www.nnhs65.00freehost.com/crt.html
He also gave us an
incredible amount of history. Besides, he remembers my cousin, Cheryl, and
her
husband , Don, from high school. But mostly, the man just knows too much
to let him get away! HAHA!
Thanks for all the fabulous goodies, Bruce! And surprise, surprise -
welcome to NNHS!
#8 - Jim Elliott ('61) of AK - 06/29/04:
Jim found his
way to us through the beautiful Brownie Shaffer Haracivet ('62) of the Virgin
Islands.
Thanks, Brownie! (Even though it's been - what? 43 years now, I still
go to the mirror each morning hoping
somehow I'll see
Brownie's gorgeous
face looking back at me. Alas - it's still only me.)
Jim is looking for
an email addy for Fuzzy Turner ('63) of NC. I was able to supply
him with an address
and phone number from the last Reunion for the Class of '63), but no email
address. Anyone? Anyone?
#9 - Freddy Malpass ('67) of VA - 06/30/04
Hey, Freddy!
#10 - Brian Beachum ('72) of VA - 07/01/04:
Brian wrote me a note, and is now
trying to figure out how he accidentally landed on this mailing list.
While he's working on that, drop by his web site and have a look at his work -
it's gorgeous! There's even
a picture of my carousel in there! ("Whadya mean, 'YOUR carousel?!?'
It's MY carousel!!!")

Ahem, anyway, Brian's question is this:
Hello. I was wondering if you know when the NNHS name was changed from the
"Ship Builders"
to the "Typhoons"? Great web site!
Honey child, I
didn't even know the name USED to be the "Ship Builders"! But I DO know we
have
a plethora of local historians who know All Things, so I'm sure we can find an
answer for you. My money's
on Fred Mays ('60) of VA. Fred? Anyone?
Thanks, Brian! Glad you enjoy the site!
WHEW! Welcome, one and all! You're now all appearing here:
