Summer Rain

Let the rain kiss you. Let the rain beat upon your head
with silver liquid drops. Let the rain sing you a lullaby.

- Langston Hughes
(01 Feb 1902 - 22 May 1967)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

It isn't raining here in Fayetteville today, nor it should it be tomorrow, but I think it's supposed to be storming most of the next few days.

HEALTH ALERT:

The Incomparable Charis Bean Duke (Governor Thomas Johnson HS, MD - '85) of PA will be having surgery for thyroid cancer at 7:30 AM on Monday, June 30. For those of you who may be unaware, Charis is not only an award-winning composer, arranger, and consummate oboist and concert pianist, she has a soprano voice fit for an angel. Your prayers on her behalf (not only that the cancer may be removed and cured, but that her beautiful voice would not be harmed) would be greatly appreciated.

FINALLY:

From www.ajokeaday.com - 06/28/14:

Ladies and gentlemen, hobos and tramps,
Bug-eyed mosquitoes and bowlegged ants!
I'm about to tell you a story I've never heard before,
So pull up a chair and sit on the floor.
Admission is free, so pay at the door.
One fine day, in the middle of the night,
Two dead boys got up to fight.
Back to back, they faced each other,
Drew their swords and shot each other.
A deaf policeman heard the noise,
And saved the lives of the two dead boys.
If you don't believe my lies are true,
Ask the blind man, he saw it too!

Summer Rain

Written by Jim Hendricks (b. 10 Feb 1940)

Recorded by
Johnny Rivers (b. 07 Nov 1942), 1967

Summer rain taps at my window
West wind soft as a sweet dream
My love warm as the sunshine
Sittin' here by me,
she is here by me

She stepped out of the rainbow
Golden hair shinin' like moonglow
Warm lips soft as a soul
Sittin' here by me,
she's here by me

All summer long we spent
dancin' in the sand
And the jukebox kept on playin'
Sergeant Pepper's
Lonely Hearts Club Band

We sailed into the sunset
Drifted home caught by a gulf stream
Never gave a thought for tomorrow
Just let tomorrow be, now,
let tomorrow be

She wants to live in the Rockies
She says that's where we'll find peace
Settle down, raise up a family
To call our own, yeah,
we'll have a home

All summer long
we spent groovin' in the sand
Everybody kept on playin'
Sergeant Pepper's
Lonely Hearts Club Band

The snow drifts by my window
North wind blowin' like thunder
Our love's burnin' like fire
And she's here by me, yeah,
she is here with me
Let tomorrow be
