06/26/13 - NNHS Newsletter - Here I Go Again

“Sometimes, when one person is missing,
the whole world seems depopulated.”

- Alphonse de Lamartine
(21 Oct 1780 - 28 Feb 1869)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

We have another 80's song today:

BONUS - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C3wdMu8Mvhc - Here I Go Again - Whitesnake - "one of the most famous 80's music video in HD"

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Here_I_Go_Again:

"Here I Go Again" is a song recorded by Whitesnake...

The song was written by lead singer, David Coverdale, and former Whitesnake guitarist, Bernie Marsden. The most notable differences between the original and revamped version are the style of the music (blues-rock versus hard rock) and a slight change in the lyrics. The chorus of the original version features the lines:

"An' here I go again on my own
Goin' down the only road I've ever known
Like a hobo I was born to walk alone"

Whereas the newer version is:

"Like a drifter I was born to walk alone"

Whitesnake's Here I go again was featured as one of the greatest songs of the 80's on VH1.

From the Most Talented Boy in the Class of 1954, Jack Nelson of Northern VA - 06/25/13 - "Britain's Got Talent":

This is a short piece that - once again - Polly (English) Greene ('54) sent in.

The Johnson brothers sing "The Impossible Dream" on Britain's Got Talent.  It gave me chills to hear two young singers put forth their best effort...and see the result of that effort.  It was tremendous...

A performance that will grab you by the heart strings and make you feel good about people trying hard to make their way in a life they obviously enjoy.  Don't know who the lady is behind the stage but I can guess it's their mother.

Turn your speakers on.....

WOWZERONI! Thank you so much, Jack! If that doesn't brighten your day, I'm afraid nothing will!

Here I Go Again

Written by David Coverdale (b. 22 Sept 1951) and Bernie Marsden (b. 07 May 1951)

Recorded by Whitesnake, 1982

I don't know where I'm goin
but I sure know where I've been
hanging on the promises in songs of yesterday.
An' I've made up my mind, I ain't wasting no more time
but here I go again, here I go again.

Tho' I keep searching for an answer
I never seem to find what I'm looking for.
Oh Lord, I pray you give me strength to carry on
'cause I know what it means to walk along the lonely street of dreams.

Here I go again on my own
goin' down the only road I've ever known.
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone.
An' I've made up my mind, I ain't wasting no more time.

Just another heart in need of rescue
waiting on love's sweet charity
an' I'm gonna hold on for the rest of my days
'cause
I know what it means to walk along the lonely street of dreams.

Here I go again on my own
goin' down the only road I've ever known.
Like a hobo I was born to walk alone.
An' I've made up my mind, I ain't wasting no more time
but here I go again, here I go again,
here I go again, here I go.

An' I've made up my mind, I ain't wasting no more time.

Here I go again on my own
goin' down the only road I've ever known.
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone
'cause
I know what it means to walk along the lonely street of dreams.

Here I go again on my own
goin' down the only road I've ever known.
Like a drifter I was born to walk alone.
An' I've made up my mind, I ain't wasting no more time
but here I go again, here I go again,
here I go again, here I go,
here I go again
