06/23/15 - NNHS Newsletter - (Since You've) Gone

“There is a sacredness in tears. They are not the mark of weakness,
but of power. They speak more eloquently than ten thousand tongues.
They are messengers of overwhelming grief...and unspeakable love.”

- Washington Irving
(03 Apr 1783 - 28 Nov 1859)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

   Thanks so much, Susan!

From Me ('65) of NC - 06/23/15 - "Lost in Space":

Perhaps you've noticed that I've been moving at an even slower pace than usual. Here's my excuse (and you know how I delight in making excuses for myself and everyone else).

Due to an underactive thyroid, I'm on a rather hefty dosage of thyroid replacement medication. Thanks to a comedy of errors, I ran out of my meds recently, and was without them for (ouch!) eight days. Bad plan. Among other exciting things this turned me from being a slow-moving old turtle into basically a giant slug. I awoke from my morning night just in time for my afternoon nap.

I was finally able to get a fresh prescription and have been taking them again since 06/18, but it will probably take at least another week until I'm back to my usual creep-along pokiness. Stay tuned.

From My Husband, Paul Harty (Bardolph HS, IL - '61) of NC - 06/22/15 - "Great Commencement Speech":

...The advice given by "The Coach" is good, the humor is better, and if we succeed in following the "coach" we will enjoy eternal life while having a pretty good time here on Earth. Either way, it is an inspired, uplifting address. Hope you like it!

Well worth the listen..

(Since You've) Gone

Recorded by Ferlin Husky, 1957
(b. 03 Dec 1925)

Since you've gone, the moon, the sun, the stars in the sky know the reason why I cry
Love divine once was mine; now you've gone
Since you've gone, my heart, my lips, my tear dimmed eyes, a lonely soul within me cries
I acted smart, broke your heart, now you've gone
Oh, what I'd give for the lifetime I've wasted
The love that I've tasted; I was wrong; now you've gone

Oh what I'd give for the lifetime...
