probably Hinton High School (WV) Class of @ 1957

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

   There is more sad news this Saturday morning.    Mary Lawrence Lively, probably Hinton HS (WV) Class of @ 1957, sister of Fred Lawrence of VA, Bill Lawrence of VA, and      Joyce Lawrence Cahoon ('65) of VA, and of the late Ed Lawrence and     Jack Lawrence (Hinton HS [WV] / NNHS - '59), passed away at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at the age of 76.

   Her mother, Virginia E. Lawrence, predeceased her by almost eight years.

From the Daily Press - 06/20/15:

                 Mary Lawrence Lively

    YORKTOWN - Mary Faye Lawrence Lively, born in Warford, WV on September 2, 1938, passed away somewhat unexpectedly on Thursday, June 18, 2015 at Riverside Regional Medical Center.

She is survived by her husband, David W. Lively; daughter Vickie Lively Matney of Newport News; two grandchildren, Megan E. Snelling and Brandon L. Matney, both of Newport News; two brothers Fred Lawrence and wife, Rita, of Yorktown, and Bill Lawrence and wife, June, of Newport News; and sister Joyce Cahoon and husband, Cary, of Highland Springs.

She is preceded in death by her parents Oscar H. Lawrence and Virginia E. Lawrence, and two brothers, Ed and Jack Lawrence, both of West Virginia.

She retired from the York County School System after serving in various school cafeterias. Mary attended Northside Christian Church.

  Her world revolved around her husband of 56 years, her only daughter, Vickie and husband Kevin, her two grandchildren, and one grand-dog, "Cupcake". She loved to cook and enjoy her home, especially her screened in porch.

While she will be immeasurably missed, we have the reassurance that she is in Heaven with our Lord, as Mary had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Visitation will be from 12 to 1 PM Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will immediately follow at 1 PM with Pastor Larry Jones officiating.

Burial will be at 3 PM at Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk.

Arrangements by W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

Lead Me Gently Home

Words and Music by Will L. Thompson, 1879
(07 Nov 1847 - 20 Sept 1909)

Lead me gently home, Father,
Lead me gently home;
When life’s toils are ended,
And parting days have come,
Sin no more shall tempt me,
Ne’er from Thee I’ll roam,
If Thou’ll only lead me, Father,
Lead me gently home.

* Refrain:
Lead me gently home, Father,
Lead me gently home, Father,
Lest I fall upon the wayside,
Lead me gently home.

Lead me gently home, Father,
Lead me gently home;
In life’s darkest hours, Father,
When life’s troubles come,
Keep my feet from wand’ring,
Lest from Thee I roam,
Lest I fall upon the wayside,
Lead me gently home.
