Do You Want to Know a Secret?

Never seek to tell thy love, Love that never told can be;
For the gentle wind does move Silently, invisibly.

I told my love, I told my love, I told her all my heart;
Trembling, cold, in ghastly fears, Ah! she did depart!

Soon as she was gone from me, A traveler came by,
Silently, invisibly, He took her with a sigh.”

- William Blake
(28 Nov 1757 - 12 Aug 1827)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Let's see if we really have any secrets to divulge today.....   ‹(•¿•)›

The first secret is that the 1963 video of The Beatles singing Do You Want to Know a Secret? has been removed from YouTube, and all I was able to find were videos made by cover groups.

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Do_You_Want_to_Know_a_Secret:

"Do You Want to Know a Secret" is a song by the Beatles from the 1963 album Please Please Me, sung by George Harrison. In the United States, it was the first top ten song to feature Harrison as a lead singer, reaching number 2 on the Billboard chart in 1964 as a single released by Vee-Jay, VJ 587. The song reached the #1 position on Billboard in 1981 and #2 in the United Kingdom in a cover version by Stars on 45 as part of a medley. Alvin and the Chipmunks covered the song for their 1964 album The Chipmunks Sing the Beatles Hits.

"Do You Want to Know a Secret" was primarily written by John Lennon, but credited to McCartney–Lennon. The song was inspired by "I'm Wishing",[1] a tune from Walt Disney’s 1937 animated film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs which Lennon's mother, Julia Lennon, would sing to him as a child. The first two lines of the song in Disney's movie ("Want to know a secret? Promise not to tell?") come right after the opening lyrics ("You'll never know how much I really love you... You'll never know how much I really care...").[2][3] McCartney said it was a "50-50 collaboration written to order", i.e., for Harrison to sing.[4]

In 1980, Lennon said that he gave "Do You Want to Know a Secret" to Harrison to sing because "it only had three notes and he wasn't the best singer in the world", but added "he has improved a lot since then."[3] Harrison sang two songs on Please Please Me, this song by Lennon–McCartney and "Chains" by Goffin/King. "Don't Bother Me" from With The Beatles, was the first Beatles song composed solely by Harrison.[5]

The song was recorded during a ten-hour session on 11 February 1963 along with nine other songs for Please Please Me.[6]

"Do You Want to Know a Secret" was released a year later as a single by Vee-Jay in the United States on 23 March 1964, reaching the number two spot behind another Beatles song, "Can't Buy Me Love" in Billboard, reaching number three on the Cash Box chart, but reaching number one for two weeks in the chart published by the Teletheatre Research Institute...

THIS DAY IN WWII:

June 02, 1941 - The Massacre of Kondomari: German paratoopers murdered Greek civilians in the village of Kondomari. The shooting was the first of a long series of mass reprisals in Crete and was orchestrated by Generaloberst Kurt Student, in retaliation for the participation of Cretans in the Battle of Crete which had ended with the surrender of the island only two days earlier. Men, women and children were forced to gather in the village square. Then, a number of hostages was selected among the men while women and children were released. The hostages were led to the surrounding olive groves and later fired upon in cold blood. The exact number of the victims is unclear. According to German records, a total of 23 men were killed but other sources raise the toll to about 60.

June 02, 1944 - The United States began "shuttle bombing" in Operation Frantic. The operation was created solely to destroy Germany's war economy.

 From My Niece, Shari, of VA - 05/14/20, 7:57 AM - "~'~ I Love Pink ~'~" (#16 in a Series of 20):

As we slowly venture back into the world, let's hope a new gentleness becomes our theme. Let's all be gentle with ourselves and others,  human and animal, as well as to the earth. This has been a trauma for so many. This brings me to another one of my favorite things, the softness of Pink.

“There is no energy greater than the power of Love. Once I finally embraced this concept, I realized that the path to Ascension always begins with the heart, and the color Pink.”

   Thank you, Shari!

From www.ajokeaday.com - 06/01/19:

When asked for her occupation, a woman charged with a traffic violation said she was a school teacher.

The judge rose from the bench. "Madam, I have waited years for a school teacher to appear before this court," he smiled with delight. "Now sit down at that table and write 'I will not pass through a red light' five hundred times!"

Do You Want to Know a Secret

Words and Music primarily by John Lennon (09 Oct 1940 – 08 Dec 1980); Credited to McCartney–Lennon

Recorded by The Beatles, 1963

You never know how much I really love you
You'll never know how much I really care

Listen, do you want to know a secret
Do you promise not to tell, woh, woh, woh
Closer, let me whisper in your ear

Say the words you long to hear
I'm in love with you, oo

Listen, do you want to know a secret
Do you promise not to tell, woh, woh, woh
Closer, let me whisper in your ear
Say the words you long to hear
I'm in love with you, oo

I've known a secret for a week or two
Nobody knows just we two

Listen, do you want to know a secret
Do you promise not to tell, woh, woh, woh
Closer, let me whisper in your ear
Say the words you long to hear
I'm in love with you, oo, oo
