Dear Friends and Schoolmates,   

   Sad news has returned to us once again.        Priscilla Balanis Outland, Class of 1958, widow of  Dan Outland , Class of 1958, (d. 09 Mar 2003) and sister of   George Balanis ('60) of VA, passed away in Gloucester on Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the age of 72.

Our NNHS58 classmate Priscilla Balanis Outland died of colon cancer this past Saturday, May 19, 2012.
She was preceded in death by her husband, another NNHS 1958 classmate, Dan Outland in 2003.
The visitation will be held at the Hogg Funeral Home in Gloucester County at 6pm tomorrow night, Tuesday, May 22, 2012.
A prayer service will follow at 6:30pm.
Hogg Funeral Home is located on RT-17, about 4 miles north of the York River bridge.

   Oh, Joe, I am so sorry to hear this; Priscilla was such a lovely woman.  Thank you for letting me know.

  Priscilla Balanis Outland
    GLOUCESTER - Priscilla Balanis Outland, of Gwynn's Island, passed away on May 19, 2012, after a brief illness.

Born in Charlottesville, Va., on Feb. 24, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Arthur G. and Ethel A. Balanis of Williamsburg, Va. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bruce Daniel Outland.

Priscilla is survived by a brother, George A. Balanis and his family of Williamsburg, Va. She is also survived by two first cousins, Constantine A. Balanis and his family of Mesa, Ariz., and George N. Balanis and his family of Pacific Palisades, Calif. Priscilla was also loved by many other family and friends, including a special goddaughter, Renee Saur; three stepchildren and three step-grandchildren.

Priscilla was a graduate of Newport News High School, class of '58, and attended the Hampton Roads Business College. She was employed by NASA's Langley Research Center in Hampton, Va., for 30 years.

She was a devoted member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church, Newport News, Va., where she was a member of the Philoptochos Society, the Daughters of Penelope, and the Hellenic Women's Penelope Society. She also taught Sunday school, vacation bible school, and participated in many Greek festivals and church events.

A Trisagion prayer service, officiated by the Rev. George Chioros, will be held at 6:30 p.m. tonight, May 22, 2012, at Hogg Funeral Home, Gloucester Point, Va. The family will receive visitors at 6 p.m., prior to the prayer service.
