Alda Lorraine Chapman Gall
(11 Nov 1918 - 02 May 2012)

Newport News High School Class of June 1936

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

I was saddened to read today, somewhat belatedly, of the death of
Alda Chapman Gall, Class of June 1936. She passed away in Newport News on Wednesday, May 02, 2012 at the age of 93. Her siblings, Willis Chapman, Jr., Walter Chapman, and Evelyn Chapman Matson, all preceded her in death.

I was privileged to sing with Alda in the Chancel Choir of Trinity Methodist Church, and even now after all these years, I can recall the tones of her voice and her flawless and seemingly effortless executions of difficult passages.

Mrs. Gall was a kind and gentile lady whom I met through her husband Tib. Always had time and made the time to speak to us youngsters at the Y where Tib worked. Always a smile, and a hug for us all. My love, thoughts and prayers to her family. I will never forget her.

No. 45 - I Know That My Redeemer Liveth

- G. F. Handel

I know that my Redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth.
And though worms destroy this body, yet in my flesh shall I see God.

(Job 19:25-26)

For now is Christ risen from the dead, the first fruits of them that sleep.

(I Corinthians 15:20)
