“People sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.”

-
George Orwell

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

This observance is celebrated each year on the third Saturday in May. Remember those wonderful, inspiring Armed Forces Day Parades back in the early sixties?? Sigh.

BONUS - Stars And Stripes Forever - "The President's Own" United States Marine Band, March, 3, 2009, in the John Philip Sousa Band Hall at Marine Barracks Annex in Washington, D.C.

From Jimmy Dick ('65) of FL - 05/18/19, 11:32 AM:

And a late Happy Saturday morning to all and I hope your day is starting off well. When I awoke and saw the weather forecast I started out early to get all of my barn and outside chores done. We're having a heat wave with very high temperatures and not a cloud in the sky. Some are even saying we are in the early stages of a drought which certainly concerns anyone with domestic livestock. But after two years of record rainfall I knew that sooner or later the tables would turn. After all, Florida is truly a "feast or famine" state when it comes to rainfall. So, I'll turn it over to God and ask Him to lead me on the path to handling it properly and enjoy the day on the inside until much later. There is really no way you can do anything about things beyond your control, so ease your mind with something else and enjoy Saturday, a great day to relax and have a little fun on your schedule, not a task master's. God bless you all.

     Thank you, Jimmy!

  From Me ('65) of NC - 05/17/18:

This is so very difficult for me to accept, as I've always considered dandelions to be a personal affront not only to my gardening skills but to my total sense of self-worth, but I'm working on it.
