05/17/19 - NNHS Newsletter - True Faith

“Faith isn't the ability to believe long and far into the misty future.
It's simply taking God at His Word and taking the next step.”

Joni Eareckson Tada
(b. 15 Oct 1949)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

I'll admit it. The title intrigued me. The lyrics were not exactly what I was expecting, but the strange 1987 video, directed by Philippe Decouflé, was an award winner.

BONUS - True Faith - New Order, 1987

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/True_Faith_%28song%29:

"True Faith" is a song by New Order, produced by Stephen Hague. It was the first New Order single since their debut Ceremony to be issued in the UK as two separate 12" singles. The second 12" single features two remixes of "True Faith" by Shep Pettibone. Both versions of the 12" (and also the edited 7") include the song "1963". "True Faith" is one of New Order's most popular songs.

The single peaked at no. 4 in the United Kingdom on its original release in 1987. "True Faith" became New Order's first single to chart in the Hot 100 and would also go on to be a top 40 hit in the United States, peaking at no. 32.

A "True Faith" remix 12" single and CD single were released in 1994, and another "True Faith" remix 12" single and CD single were released in 2001. The 1994 remix charted in the UK at no. 9...

As is the case for many New Order songs of this period, the words in the title do not appear anywhere in the lyrics...

REUNION NEWS:

    From Dave Spriggs ('64) of VA - 05/16/19, 2:05 PM - "NNHS CLASS OF 1964 - 55-YEAR REUNION - UPDATE":

Hello NNHS 1964 Classmates,

Please visit our reunion web site at: www.nnhs1964.com.

We have added new information and new pages to the site. We have even added music.

We would ask that you visit the “RSVP” tab and let us know that you plan to attend. This is NOT a commitment to attend but knowing how many of you to expect really helps with our planning.

However, if you are prepared to make the commitment to attend, you may purchase your tickets online using the “BUY REUNION TICKETS” tab. Frankly, we could really use the money for required advance payments to the Holiday Inn.

Also, please visit the “DONATIONS” tab. Your donations help us in many ways to provide a better reunion.

If you want to see who has already RSVPed, just click the “WHO’S COMING” tab. We hope that you will add your name to that list.

If you have any difficulty or have any questions, please send an e-mail to nnhs64@cox.net.

We look forward to seeing all TYPHOONs in October.

So, here we are with another Friday upon us and here in North Florida the weatherman calls for sunny and hot, but also low humidity which means with a little sunscreen and a hat things are fine. And the nights are reasonably cool with the low humidity which allows for the heat to escape. I hope you all have a wonderful day and finish up the week in good spirits. Tell God thank you for each and every day and then, when 5o'clock finally comes everywhere, relax and have a little fun. Enjoy and God bless.

  Thank you, Jimmy!

FINALLY:

From www.ajokeaday.com - 05/16/19:

"These are the proper names for the parts of the golf course," a father instructed his ten year old. You start at the tee, walk down the fairway and put your ball in the hole on the green.

"But Dad, what do you call that part where your ball gets lost in the tall grass?" his son asked.

"Oh, that's what I call the un-fairway," he replied.

True Faith (The Morning Sun)

- New Order,1987

I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling I'm in motion
A sudden sense of liberty
I don't care 'cause I'm not there
And I don't care if I'm here tomorrow
Again and again I've taken too much
Of the things that cost you too much
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...

When I was a very small boy,
Very small boys talked to me
Now that we've grown up together
They're afraid of what they see
That's the price that we all pay
And the value of destiny comes to nothing
I can't tell you where we're going
I guess there was just no way of knowing
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...

I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling I'm in motion
A sudden sense of liberty
The chances are we've gone too far
You took my time and you took my money
Now I fear you've left me standing
In a world that's so demanding
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see delight in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...
