Carol,

I received an e-mail from    Sandra Canapa that sadly our classmate Joe (Joseph V.) Toley passed away Sunday 5/9 about 6:30 pm. I have no other details except that he had been sick for quite a while.

From Sandra Canepa ('56) of VA - 05/11/10, 11:58 PM - "Details re   Joe Tolly's Service, Saturday, 15 May":

Dear '56 Classmates,

Joe's Memorial Service and his Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 15, Peninsula Funeral Home, at 11 am. Margaret tells me the family will be available for visitation prior to and after the service.

Following the service in Newport News, there will be a reception back in Windsor, Virginia, at the home of Joe and Margaret's daughter Lisa, .....

Lisa lives about 3 minutes from Margaret and is the mother of Joe and Margaret's two grandchildren. Saturday's program will have directions to Lisa's home.

Margaret said a dear friend prepared a great video of Joe's life, good times, good friends, and family, and it will be shown at the service. Joe has been cremated so there will be no other services other than Saturday's.

I personally am sad and very sorry to have to miss Joe's Big Day on Saturday because I fly out of this area on Friday. It would be greatly appreciated if those of you who plan to attend give Margaret a big hug for me. I cannot imagine working on another class reunion without Joe (and Margaret's) help, hard work, planning and input. We can do it but it certainly won't be as easy or as fun.

The Daily Press will print Joe's obit on Thursday should you need additional details.

Thank you.
Sandra Canepa

Thank you so much, Sydney - and Sandra.

I would like to express my sincere condolences to the Tolly family on the loss of their beloved Joe. My thoughts and prayers are with your family at this time. I did not know Joe personally but my parents, Bobby and Ellen Bain, always had wonderful things to say about him and had fun memories that they would share with me of your beloved Joe. I am thankful for his presence in my parents' lives and the friendship that he shared with them. May our Father hold all of you in his loving embrace.
