05/11/18 - NNHS Newsletter - Anticipation

“But if we learn to think of it as anticipation, as learning,
as growing, if we think of the time we spend waiting
for the big things of life as an opportunity instead
of a passing of time, what wonderful horizons open out!

-
Anna Neagle
(20 Oct 1904 - 03 June 1986)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Today's theme is in honor of all of y'all who are anticipating something exciting in your lives - and I should think that would include us all.

BONUS #1 - Anticipation - Carly Simon, 1972

BONUS #2 - Anticipation - Carly Simon, sometime later

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anticipation_%28song%29:

... The song was notably used in commercials for Heinz Ketchup through the late 1970s into the 1980s.

From http://www.ajokeaday.com - 05/10/18:

Doctor Bloomfield, who was known for extraordinary treatment of arthritis, had a waiting room full of people when a little old lady, almost bent over in half, shuffled in slowly, leaning on her cane.

When her turn came, she went into the doctor's office and, amazingly, emerged within 5 minutes walking completely erect with her head held high.

A woman in the waiting room who had seen all this rushed up to the little old lady and said, "It's a miracle! You walked in bent in half and now you're walking erect. What did that doctor do?"

"Gave me a longer cane."

Anticipation

Written and recorded by Carly Simon (b. 25 June 1945), 1971

We can never know about the days to come
But we think about them anyway, yay
And I wonder if I'm really with you now
Or just chasin' after some finer day

Anticipation, anticipation
Is makin' me late
Is keepin' me waitin'

And I tell you how easy it feels to be with you
And how right your arms feel around me
But I, I rehearsed those lines just late last night
When I was thinkin' about how right tonight might be

Anticipation, anticipation
Is makin' me late
Is keepin' me waitin'

And tomorrow we might not be together
I'm no prophet and I don't know nature's ways
So I'll try and see into your eyes right now
And stay right here 'cause these are the good old days

(These are the good old days)
And stay right here 'cause these are the good old days
(These are the good old days)
(These are the good old days)
(These are the good old days)
(These are.....the good old days)
