Dear Friends and Schoolmates,  

    There is more sad news this Friday.
     Anita Sue Riley, Class of 1956, passed away in Newport News on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the age of 74. 

  She was a flagtwirler for the Senior Band under the direction of    Mr. Leonard Zimet.

NEWPORT NEWS - Anita Sue Riley, 74, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 30, 2013. A native of Clarksburg, W. Va., she was a Newport News resident for 72 years.

Anita graduated from Newport News High School in 1956 where she was a flag twirler. After graduation she then went to Business College. From there she went on to work at the Newport News Shipyard, was a school bus driver for the City of Newport News for five years, a homemaker and a property manager at numerous complexes until her retirement from Lochaven Apartments in 2003. Anita also attended Denbigh Baptist Church.

Anita is preceded in death by her mother, Geneva Pearle Crawford Riley and her father, William Thurman Riley.

Survivors include sons, George William "Billy" Coleman, III and his wife, Michele, C. Scott Dangerfield and his wife, Lori, and Wesley T. Dangerfield and his wife, Margaret; grandchildren, George William "Billy" Coleman IV, Robert Bruce Coleman, Daniel Dangerfield, Sadie Dangerfield, Emily Dangerfield, and Riley Dangerfield; and two nephews, John and Thomas Watson.

The family will receive friends Friday May 3, 2013 from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held May 3 at 2 p.m. with burial to follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.

  Our sympathy to the family. Anita was one of a kind. She was a kind and sharing person with her talents. Remember her making tote bags for most of the ladies at Church. Love and Prayers for the family.
