Jean W. Rew
(d. 30 Apr 2012)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

I was saddened this morning to read of the death of Jean W. Rew, mother of      Barry Rew (NNHS / Ferguson HS - '65) of VA, and aunt of    Wayne Agee ('58) of FL and of the late  Kathy Agee Glenny ('64) (d. 03 June 2006) , who passed away in Newport News on Monday, April 30, 2012 at the age of 85.

I remember Mrs. Rew so well from our days at Magruder School as a strikingly beautiful young mother with a dazzling smile, and over the years was always taken by her warm and gracious spirit whenever I encountered her.  She will surely be missed.

From Barry Rew (NNHS / Ferguson HS - '65) of VA - 05/05/12, 5:24 PM - "Jean Rew":

Carol

You may have seen my mother's obituary in the Daily Press. She passed away on April 30th as a result of a stroke about 10 days earlier.
Some may have known my mother when she was a crossing guard at Chestnut Avenue and 16th Street for Magruder School. She really enjoyed that job and she and my dog Mitzi would go to work every day.

Please mention her in the newsletter.
Thanks

I did indeed see it, Barry, and you have my deepest sympathies.  Your mother was a lovely, gracious woman whom I remember with much fondness.

Y'all take good care of each other!  TYPHOONS FOREVER!  We'll Always Have Buckroe!

                          Love to all, Carol

Where Can I Turn For Peace?

Words by Emma Lou Thayne (b. 1924)
Music by Jolene G. Meredith (b. 1935)

Where can I turn for peace? Where is my solace
When other sources cease to make me whole?
When with a wounded heart, anger, or malice,
I draw myself apart, Searching my soul?

Where, when my aching grows, Where, when I languish,
Where, in my need to know, where can I run?
Where is the quiet hand to calm my anguish?
Who, who can understand? He, only One.

He answers privately, Reaches my reaching
In my Gethsemane, Savior and Friend.
Gentle the peace he finds for my beseeching.
Constant he is and kind, Love without end.
