Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

   Thanks so much, Susan!

From Joan Lauterbach Krause ('60) of VA - 04/26/18:

   Thank you, Joan!

I don't know what ails you, dear Carol...and sure do wish I could offer a solution...

I do know that I have two dogs that must go out on leash with me a few times a day, however I feel, or........ else! That means getting out of bed at the outset of my day (NOW I'm up...) , and getting dressed well enough to be viewed by whomever is around outside, while also trying to appear sorta coherent.

My dogs keep me moving, no matter what...and then there are the cats, outdoor cats, basically, one of whom can't eat what the other 9-yes, other 9-eat, while the other 9 want to eat what the allergic cat eats, which is too rich for them (nowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww, how do I know that?) Meanwhile, the allergic cat wants to eat what the other cats eat, but I can't allow can't that because it's...ummmmm...allergic and will scratch itself bloody. So, I have to be on my toes. The dogs are quite patient with the cats...Thank the Lord! Headache, sleepy, etc.? I forgot...:o)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

GIGGLES! Thank you, Dearest Santa Jim!

I'm not exactly sure what is ailing me at the moment, either (any more than I know why I didn't see your note any sooner than I did ), but I rather suspect it's a combination of COPD, rheumatoid arthritis, thyroid issues, and rainy weather. I do know that whenever they all flare up to this extent, I'm enormously grateful for the fact that I'm not responsible for caring for any other living creatures, and I can stay in bed as needed without inconveniencing or endangering any one else besides my long-suffering husband.

I'm also very thankful that I can now order groceries and other essentials online from and Aldi which will be delivered right to our door without our ever having to leave home. This is an enormous blessing in our lives - the tender mercies of the Lord.

   Thanks again!

From My Niece, Shari, of VA - 04/25/19, 8:58 AM - "Don't be a fawnnapper!":

It's very common for moms to leave babies for the day while they forage. It's their hope that if they leave it near humans that it will help keep predators away. Doe will often hide fawns near your home or even right outside your home. This does not mean the baby is orphaned. Please contact a licensed Rehabilitator before moving a fawn. Unless they are crying, running around looking for the mom, or showing signs of dehydration or hunger, they should be left alone.

Thank you, Shari, this is valuable information!

From Carlene Matthews Vannoy ('60 / '64) of VA - 04/25/19, 11:02 AM:

    Thanks, Carlene! That's it, exactly!

We do not know when he is coming. He is coming tomorrow.”

Off the Wall Recipes by - "Do you know what 'off the wall recipes' are? Now, don’t get all excited thinking you’re going to read about chocolate papaya muffin tops or fennel sardine apricot bread. No, I’m talking about the stack of recipes I’ve clipped together and hung on the pegboard next to my work station in the King Arthur test kitchen. These are recipes I make over and over again–for potlucks, for bake sales, or for going-away lunches here at work. Or just because, after sitting for three hours at the computer, I need to bake something..."

"Ever have an accident?"

"Nope, nary a one."

"None? You've never had any accidents."

"Nope. Ain't had one. Never."

"Well, you said in this form you were bitten by a snake once. Wouldn't you consider that an accident?"

"Heck, no. That dang varmint bit me on purpose."

Recorded by Jim Reeves (20 Aug 1923 – 31 July 1964), 1957

Out where the bright lights are glowing
You're drawn like a moth to a flame
You laugh while the wine's over-flowing
While I sit and whisper your name

Four walls to hear me
Four walls to see
Four walls too near me
Closing in on me

Sometimes I ask why I'm waiting
But my walls have nothing to say
I'm made for love, not for waiting
But here where you've left me, I'll stay

Four walls to hear me
Four walls to see
Four walls too near me
Closing in on me

One night with you is like heaven
And so, while I'm walking the floor
I'll listen for steps in the hallway
And wait for your knock on my door

Four walls to hear me
Four walls to see
Four walls too near me
Closing in on me
