- Jim Rohn

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Few singers have ever equaled the soothing velvet tones of Jim Reeves insofar as "comfort sounds".  I don't know about you, but I'm in the mood for some comfort right about now.

From My Friend, Brynn, of IL - 04/25/14:

  ABSOLUTELY! Thank you, Brynn!

From the Best Dressed Girl in the Class of 1959, My Sister, Eleanor Buckley Nowitzky of NC - 04/25/14:

HA-HA-HA! Thank you, Eleanor!   As you know, few things set my teeth on edge quite as much as hearing this particular mispronounciation. However, the other day I encounted something I had long since forgotten which both shocked and astounded (okay, horrified) me!

Having (temporarily) run out of anything I wanted to crochet, I had taken down my copy of Chaucer's Major Poetry (aw, c'mon, you knew I was weird!) when I came across these lines in The Second Nun's Tale:

421         Almachius, that herde of this doynge,
422         Bad fecchen Cecile, that he myghte hire see,
423         And alderfirst, lo, this was his
axynge.
424         "What maner womman artow?" tho quod he.
425         "I am a gentil womman born," quod she.
426         "I axe thee," quod he, "though it thee greeve,
427         Of thy religioun and of thy bileeve."

So... which came first, the chicken or the egg?!?

From Bill Hobbs ('66) of Northern VA - 03/28/14 - "Who Knew? (#24 in a series of 25)":

  YOWZERS! Thanks, Billy!

    From Jimmy Smith ('62 / '63) of VA - 04/10/14 - "Pictures for the Day (#11 in a series of 19)":

When the power of love overcomes the love
of power, the world will know peace.

AWW - SO CUTE! Thanks, Jimmy!

BONUS OFF THE WALL RECIPES:

http://www.kingarthurflour.com/blog/2007/12/31/off-the-wall-recipes/ - Off the Wall Recipes - "Do you know what “off the wall recipes” are? Now, don’t get all excited thinking you’re going to read about chocolate papaya muffin tops or fennel sardine apricot bread. No, I’m talking about the stack of recipes I’ve clipped together and hung on the pegboard next to my work station in the King Arthur test kitchen. These are recipes I make over and over again–for potlucks, for bake sales, or for going-away lunches here at work. Or just because, after sitting for three hours at the computer, I need to bake something..."

FINALLY:

From www.ajokeaday.com - 04/25/14:

One day an blonde decided to face her fears and go riding on a horse.

It was easy for her to get on and she was doing just fine until the horse started to go faster.

She started slipping off the saddle. She couldn’t hold on to the horse and her head started hitting the ground.

She was almost knocked unconscious when the Wal-Mart manager came out and unplugged the machine.

Four Walls

Written by Marvin Moore and George Campbell, 1957

Recorded by Jim Reeves
(20 Aug 1923 - 31 July 1964)

Out where the bright lights are glowing
You're drawn like a moth to a flame
You laugh while the wine's over-flowing
While I sit and whisper your name

Four walls to hear me
Four walls to see
Four walls too near me
Closing in on me

Sometimes I ask why I'm waiting
But my walls have nothing to say
I'm made for love, not for waiting
But here where you've left me, I'll stay

Four walls to hear me
Four walls to see
Four walls too near me
Closing in on me

One night with you is like heaven
And so, while I'm walking the floor
I'll listen for steps in the hallway
And wait for your knock on my door

Four walls to hear me
Four walls to see
Four walls too near me
Closing in on me
