Once Upon a Time

“The nightingales are sobbing in
The orchards of our mothers,
And hearts that we broke long ago
Have long been breaking others.”

PRAYER REQUEST:

From Ruth Ann Reece Horace ('67) of FL - 04/19/18, 12:15 PM:

Carol,

I would like to ask for prayers for my husband
Harry Horace. He has a mass in his right kidney, and there is an 80% chance it is cancer. There are still some tests to do, but so far the doctors do not think it has spread beyond the kidney. They will be removing that kidney the first part of May. Please keep him in your prayers that the other one works properly, and he can make a full recovery.

Love you and all our NNHS family,
Ruthie

Oh, Ruthie, I'm so very sorry to learn this, but thank you for letting me know! I've added Harry to our prayer roll, and we'll be keeping both of you in our hearts and prayers!

Once Upon a Time

From the 1962 Broadway Musical,
All American
Music by
Charles Strouse (b. 07 June 1928); Lyrics by Lee Adams
(b. 14 Aug 1924)

Once upon a time
A girl with moonlight in her eyes
Put her hand in mine
And said she loved me so
But that was once upon a time
Very long ago

Once upon a hill
We sat beneath a willow tree
Counting all the stars
And waiting for the dawn
But that was once upon a time
Now the tree is gone

How the breeze ruffled through her hair
How we always laughed as though
Tomorrow wasn't there
We were young and didn't have a care
Where did it go?

Once upon a time
The world was sweeter than we knew
Everything was ours
How happy we were then
But somehow once upon a time
Never comes again
