From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don%27t_Get_Around_Much_Anymore:

"Don't Get Around Much Anymore" is a jazz standard with music by Duke Ellington and lyrics by Bob Russell. The tune was originally called "Never No Lament" and was first recorded by Ellington in 1940 as a big-band instrumental. Russell's lyrics and the new title were added in 1942.

Two different recordings of "Don't Get Around Much Anymore", one by The Ink Spots and the other by Ellington's own band, reached #1 on the R&B chart in the US in 1943. Both were top-ten pop records, along with a version by Glen Gray. The Duke Ellington version reached #8 on the pop chart.[1]

ALERT:

My computer - or rather my FTP - is having problems uploading items to the internet. It will do it; it just requires eight times longer to accomplish it. Something about too many files...

At nearly the same moment, my daughter's actual computer began experiencing REAL problems - such as its imminent demise. We are therefore splitting computer time on my PC until some other arrangement can be made.

Even without a crystal ball, I can foresee some serious delays in our future.

No, wait a minute, this is happening in real time. Sigh.

"Hold your hats, boys, here we go again!"

From My Friend, Susan, of NC - 04/16/15:

We should learn to be patient with ourselves. Recognizing our strengths and our weaknesses, we should strive to use good judgment in all of our choices and decisions, make good use of every opportunity, and do our best in every task we undertake. We should not be unduly discouraged nor in despair at any time when we are doing the best we can. Rather, we should be satisfied with our progress even though it may come slowly at times.

- Joseph B. Wirthlin, April 1987
(11 June 1917 - 01 Dec 2008)

Don't Get Around Much Any More

Words by Bob Russell (25 Apr 1914 - Feb 1970), 1942
Music by
Duke Ellington (29 Apr 1899 - 24 May 1974), 1940

Missed the Saturday dance
Heard they crowded the floor
Couldn't bear it without you
Don't get around much anymore

Thought I'd visit the club
Got as far as the door
They'd have asked me about you
Don't get around much anymore

Oh, Darling, I guess my mind's more at ease
But nevertheless, why stir up memories?

Been invited on dates
Might have gone, but what for?
Awfully different without you
Don't get around much anymore
