04/12/17 - NNHS Newsletter - Spy Wednesday

“Then one of the twelve, called Judas Iscariot, went unto the chief priests, And said unto them,
What will ye give me, and I will deliver him unto you? And they covenanted with him
for thirty pieces of silver. And from that time he sought opportunity to betray him.”

 -
Matthew 26:12-14 (KJV)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Today is Spy Wednesday, another observance during Holy Week. If you are as unfamiliar with this day as I was, I think you'll find the fascinating homework very powerful, even for non-Catholics.

“God is eagerly waiting for the chance to answer your prayers and fulfill your dreams, just as He always has. But He can't if you don't pray, and He can't if you don't dream. In short, He can't if you don't believe.”

- Jeffrey R. Holland
(b. 03 Dec 1940)

From Wayne Agee ('58) of FL - 04/11/17 - "Osprey the Hunter":

Talk about a fisherman...

Osprey the Hunter

INCREDIBLE - BOTH THE BIRD AND THE PHOTOGRAPHY

Hard to believe but this Osprey picked up 5-6 fish in one strike, got a flounder in three feet of water, then made off with what looks like a steelhead over 5 lb.

Have you ever seen a bird shake off water like a dog?

You wouldn't want to get in its way when its eyes are locked and his talons are loaded:

There are 3 sequences in this one video:

1st sequence - catches half a dozen fish in one strike.

2nd sequence - plunges talons into deep water to grab the prey.

3rd sequence - captures a large fish that looks as if it weighs more than he does, then 'streamlines' the fish for less wind resistance in flight!

   WOWZERS! Thank you, Wayne!

From Margaret Elmore Tolly ('58) of VA - 04/11/16:

  AMEN! Thank you, Margaret!

FINALLY:

From http://www.ajokeaday.com - 04/11/17:

A little boy went down the street with his mom. He saw a dollar bill on the ground and he asked if he could pick it up. The mother said, "Don't pick things up from the ground."

Then the boy saw two dollar bills on the ground. He asked his mom, "May I pick up the two dollars?"

The mom said again, "Don't pick things up from the ground."

Then the mother slipped on a banana peel and fell down. She asked her son, "Can you help me up?"

The boy said, "I was told not to pick things up from the ground."
