Dreaming of You
“Dreams can disappear - poof, just like that. Where do those
dreams go? Are they floating out there
with no place to land - songs not sung, dances not danced, all those dreams that will never come true?”
- Marjorie Klein, Test Pattern, 2000, p. 204
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
Nothing like sad ol' love songs.....
BONUS - Dreaming of You - Selena, 1995
|"Dreaming of You" is the name of a
love song written by
Franne Golde and
Snow. It was Selena's biggest single, peaking at #21 on the
Billboard Hot 100. The song was released at the end of the first
quarter of 1995, after Selena's murder. It appeared on
the album of the same name, which was released posthumously.
Robert Johnson of Planet Music, a record chain in Houston, told New York Times that people in Houston were buying copies of the album Dreaming of You because of the single "Dreaming of You". 15 years after her death, Teresa Jusino of Popmatters wrote: "Even the most sheltered English-speaking music fan might not know Selena's name, but if you mention her hit singles, "Dreaming of You", or "I Could Fall in Love," they'll likely respond with 'I remember that song!', or 'I love that one!'."
Peter Watrous of The New York Times wrote: "It's not that she didn't sing well in English; she spoke English substantially better than she did Spanish. It's that the English song writers didn't step up to the bar with their best material. The music is faceless commerce. That she sings it so well on the album suggests that she had a good chance of success, working lush ballads in an anonymous pop style that Disney has mastered..."

I appreciate your Editions, and have even made a couple of modest contributions in the past.
May I place an ad on NNHS65? I would expect to pay for it, of course. It would be for a book of mine that has been selling for a few years now. Its title is "Times & Places: A Glimpse of Life on the Virginia Peninsula."
WOWZERONI! Certainly, Allan, I'd be delighted to promote your book!
It's now appearing in TYPHOONMART, and all advertising is free.
"A charming compilation of work from this keen observer of the Virginia Peninsula scene includes his line-drawings as well as his accompanying historical and local narrative. This is a must-have for the student of Virginia architecture and Virginia byways as these structures give way, one by one, to the wrecking ball." - Google Books
"If you want to learn more about the Peninsula’s history, this book, which costs $12.95, is a quick and easy way to appreciate your surroundings. It can be purchased on amazon.com. Locally, it is available at Anderson's Home & Garden Showplace,11250 Jefferson Ave., Newport News, at all Barnes & Noble bookstores, and from the author at email@example.com." - Daily Press, January 7, 2014

BONUS DREAMING OF SPRING KNIT PATTERN:
Amy Gunderson's Dreaming of Spring Hat - "Here at Universal Yarn, the plants are getting mixed signals. Is it time to bloom? We as crafters are getting mixed signals too – shall we turn to warm weather fibers, or bundle up just a little while longer? We thought we’d split the difference – a warm hat, but a quick project, so we can enjoy it and then be done when more moderate weather rolls in. And because, like the flowers, we are ready to see the sun, we’re calling this one Dreaming of Spring."
