Long Lonely Nights

“They say that time heals all wounds but all it’s done so far
is give me more time to think about how much I miss you.”

- Ezbeth Wilder

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Though I somehow still do not remember this song at all, I thought I'd use it again today.

BONUS #1 - Long Lonely Nights - Lee Andrews & the Hearts, 1957

BONUS #2 - Long Lonely Nights - Clyde McPhatter

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lee_Andrews_%26_the_Hearts:

Lee Andrews & the Hearts was a doo-wop quintet from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, US, formed in 1953. They recorded on the Gotham, Rainbow, Mainline, Chess, United Artists, Grand and Gowen labels. Managed by Kae Williams, in 1957 and 1958 they had their three biggest hits, "Teardrops", "Long Lonely Nights" and "Try the Impossible". The group consisted of Lee Andrews (lead), Roy Calhoun (first tenor), Tammey Currey (second tenor), Ted Weems (baritone) and Wendell Calhoun (bass).[1]

Lee Andrews was born (1938) Arthur Lee Andrews Thompson, at Goldsboro, North Carolina. Questlove, drummer and producer for the Grammy Award-winning hip-hop group The Roots, is Lee Andrews' son, and cites growing up with doo-wop as a major influence in his music.[2]

FINALLY:

From http://www.ajokeaday.com - 04/08/18:

The children were all lined up for their first confession when Little Johnny’s turn came. The priest asked him to confess his sins, and the boy promptly replied, “Father, I threw a stone at Jimmy.”

“That was a very misguided thing to do, my son,” said the priest patiently.

“It wasn’t misguided at all,” said Little Johnny. “I hit him.”

Long Lonely Nights

Recorded by Lee Andrews & the Hearts, 1958

Long, long and lonely nights
I cry my eyes out over you
Wond'ring if I did right
And why you left me with a broken heart

Oh, long, long and lonely nights
Oh, how I miss you, my dear
Please, please, come back to me
How I wish you were here

As I go along my lonely way I visualize your face
When I pass through (yeah!) my doorway
What's left for me to face?

Oh, long, long and lonely nights
I guess you're never coming home
Long, long and lonely nights
Ever since you've been gone

As I go along my lonely way I visualize your face
When I pass through (yeah!) my doorway
What's left for me to face?

Oh, oh, oh, long, long and lonely nights
I guess you're never coming home
Long, long and lonely nights
Ever since you've been gone

Please, please, come back to me
You've been gone too long
