04/03/20 - NNHS Newsletter - Little April Shower

“...then April came, that daybreak of summer, fresh like every dawn, gay like every childhood;
weeping a little sometimes like the infant that it is. Nature in this month has charming gleams
which pass from the sky, the clouds, the trees, the fields and the flowers, into the heart of man.”

-
Victor Hugo, Les Misérables, 1862
(26 Feb 1802 - 22 May 1885)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Are you enjoying a little April shower where you are today?

REUNION UPDATE:

From Lynn Walker Brothers ('65) of VA - 04/01/20, 12:57 PM - "55-Year Class Reunion for the Class of 1965":

March 31, 2020

Dear Classmates,

Due to the current situation with the coronavirus, it is necessary to cancel our 55-Year Class Reunion.

We plan on rescheduling this event in the fall. We will keep you posted.

I heard this quote today which seemed so appropriate for the time,“What you focus on, you create more of,” so instead of focusing on the negative, find positive ways of dealing with the anxiety created by this virus, that we are all experiencing, and stay safe. Hope to see everyone in the fall.

Your Reunion Committee

QUITE UNDERSTANDABLE! Thank you so much, Lynn!

FINALLY:

From http://www.ajokeaday.com - 04/02/19:

Jeff had gone to propose to his girlfriend and returned home crying bitterly. "What happened, son?" his father asked, eagerly awaiting her response. "Did she accept?"

"No, she sure didn't," sobbed Jeff. "When I told her what you advised me to say, she slapped my face and told me to get out."

"Did you begin by telling her what I told you to say, what I told your mother when she accepted my proposal? 'Sweetheart, time stands still when I look in your eyes.' Did you tell her that?" asked his father.

"Oh boy, Dad, did I got it all wrong," Jeff groaned. "I said, 'My dear, you have a face that would stop a clock!'"

Little April Shower from Bambi (1942)

Words by
Larry Morey
(26 Mar 1905 - 08 May 1971)

Music by
Frank Churchill (20 Oct 1901 - 14 May 1942)
Drip, drip, drop
Little April shower
Beating a tune
As you fall all around

Drip, drip, drop
Little April shower
What can compare
To your beautiful sound

Drip, drip, drop
When the sky is cloudy
Your pretty music
Can brighten the day

Drip, drip, drop
When the sun says howdy
You say goodbye right away

Drip, drip drop
Little April shower
Beating a tune
Ev'rywhere that you fall

Drip, drip drop
Little April shower
I'm getting wet
And I don't care at all

Drip, drop, drip, drop
I'll never be afraid
Of a good little
Gay little
April serenade
