Love

“April is a promise that May is bound to keep.”

- Hal Borland
(14 May 1900 - 22 Feb 1978)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

   There's just something about April.....

BONUS - April Love - Pat Boone, 1957

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/April_Love_%28song%29:

"April Love" is a popular song with music by Sammy Fain and lyrics by Paul Francis Webster. It was written as the theme song for a 1957 film of the same name starring Pat Boone and Shirley Jones and directed by Henry Levin.

In the film, the Pat Boone character, Nick Conover, leaves Chicago after being put on probation for stealing a car. Living and working on the Kentucky farm of his uncle Jed Bruce and his aunt Henrietta, he falls in love with a neighbour's daughter, played by Shirley Jones. In the same way that Boone is often criticised for singing watered-down versions of rhythm and blues songs, the film April Love can be seen as a milder version of James Dean's Rebel Without a Cause (1955) or Marlon Brando's The Wild One (1955).[citation needed]

Helped by the release of the film, "April Love" became a number-one hit in the United States for Pat Boone in December 1957. In 1958, it was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Music, Original Song.

April Love

Words by Paul Francis Webster (20 Dec 1907 – 18 Mar 1984)
Music by
Sammy Fain (17 June 1902 – 06 Dec 1989)

Recorded by Pat Boone (b. 01 June 1934), 1957

April love is for the very young
Every star's a wishing star that shines for you
April love is all the seven wonders
One little kiss can tell you this is true

Sometimes an April day will suddenly bring showers
Rain to grow the flowers for her first bouquet
But April love can slip right through your fingers
So if she's the one don't let her run away

[Instrumental Interlude]

Sometimes an April day will suddenly bring showers
Rain to grow the flowers for her first bouquet
But April love can slip right through your fingers
So if she's the one don't let her run away
