And Your Bird Can Sing

“Birds sing after a storm; why shouldn't people feel as free
to delight in whatever remains to them?”

Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy
(22 July 1890 - 22 Jan 1995)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

   How about some Beatles?

BONUS - http://www.beatlestube.net/video.php?title=And+Your+Bird+Can+Sing

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/And_Your_Bird_Can_Sing:

"And Your Bird Can Sing" is a song by The Beatles, released on their 1966 album Revolver in the United Kingdom and on Yesterday...and Today in the United States. The songwriting credit is Lennon/McCartney, though the song was written solely by John Lennon. The working title was "You Don't Get Me". Lennon was later dismissive of the song, as he was of many of his compositions at the time, referring to it as "another of my throwaways...fancy paper around an empty box".[2]

The song, a hard-edged rocker, is memorable for its extended dual-guitar melody, played by George Harrison and Paul McCartney. A version of the song, featuring George on his Rickenbacker 12-string guitar, was recorded on 20 April 1966 but was scrapped: the group recorded the album version on April 26.[3] The rejected version, heard on the Anthology 2 album, features a vocal track on which Lennon and McCartney are giggling hysterically. The Anthology liner notes states that the tapes do not indicate the source of the laughter. However, given the group's excessive consumption of cannabis during this period, it is likely that they were under the influence at the time of recording.

A number of incidents have been suggested as inspirations for the song's cryptic lyrics, which recall in tone those of She Said, She Said:

"And Your Bird Can Sing" was used as the theme song of the Beatles's cartoon series during its third season. The song is playable in the music video game The Beatles: Rock Band.

And Your Bird Can Sing

Written by John Lennon[1] (credited to Lennon/McCartney)

Recorded by The Beatles, 1966

You tell me that you've got everything you want
And your bird can sing
But you don't get me, you don't get me

You say you've seen seven wonders and your bird is green
But you can't see me, you can't see me

When your prized possessions start to weigh you down
Look in my direction, I'll be round, I'll be round

When your bird is broken will it bring you down
You may be awoken, I'll be round, I'll be round

You tell me that you've heard every sound there is
And your bird can swing
But you can't hear me, you can't hear me
