Dear Friends and Schoolmates,   

   We have even more sad news today.    Mildred Roberts Wyatt McKay, Class of 1936, passed away in Newport News on Saturday, March 27, 2010 at the age of 92.

NEWPORT NEWS - Mildred C. McKay, 92, died Saturday, March 27, 2010.

A native of Newport News, where she lived most of her life, she was a 1936 graduate of Newport News High School. She retired from Civil Service at Fort Monroe, as an editor in the Adjutant General's Office, after 34 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her first husband of 19 years, Howard Puller Wyatt; second husband of 28 years, Maj. Donald R. McKay; parents, Sadie K. Roberts and Elbert C. Roberts; sisters, Charlotte R. Orr and Dorothy Sue Roberts; and brothers, Elbert N. Roberts and Carl Frederick Roberts.

 

 
 

 

 

She is survived by her sons, Rodney C. Wyatt of Newport News, Va., and Richard Gregory McKay and wife, Larkin of Ontario, Canada; brother, Norris K. Roberts and wife, Mary of Newport News; sisters, Margaret R. Weaver and husband, Wilbur of Newport News, and Jean R. Bates and husband, Norman of Warrenton, Va.; grandchildren, Brittany, Jeffrey and Gregory McKay, all of Ontario, Canada; a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight, March 29, at Peninsula Funeral Home. A private graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 30, in Peninsula Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International, P.O. Box 140800, Nashville, TN 37214-0800, or to a favorite charity.

We really enjoyed the friendship we shared with Ms. McKay at the Hidenwood. Mother and I will miss seeing her each day. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
