Funny How Time Slips Away

You must have been warned against letting the golden hours slip by;
but some of them are golden only because we let them slip by.

“The battle for self-discipline may leave you a bit bruised and battered but always a better person. Self-discipline is a rigorous process at best; too many of us want it to be effortless and painless. Should temporary setbacks afflict us, a very significant part of our struggle for self-discipline is the determination and the courage to try again.....”

From Jimmy Dick ('65) of FL - 03/26/20, 6:17 AM:

Good morning on Lockdown Thursday. How many more Thursdays will there be like this? No one knows, but the numbers are beginning to show that, despite quite a few major hot spots, much of the nation is fairing quite well and each day that passes gives us hope. But we also know we have to be vigilant and make the right calls, for things can change in a heartbeat. We do have a problem with people escaping some of the hot spots late and going to other states. I just pray those who do will give us all the courtesy of voluntarily quarantining themselves for two weeks instead of just spreading what they might have among those trying to follow the protocol. Sadly, this is unfolding in what could turn out to be a huge problem down here in Florida. But good or bad, whatever it might be, if we put God in our hearts and listen to what he tells us, we will handle things so much better. Honestly, folks, we can't do this by ourselves. Now try not to worry, just be careful, and go about doing what you must do, and smile through it all. It will make both you and everyone around you feel better. God bless.

     Thank you, Jimmy!

Little Johnny asked his teacher, “Mrs. Roberts, can I be punished for something I haven’t done?”

Mrs. Roberts was shocked, “Of course not, Johnny, that would be very unfair.”

Little Johnny was relieved, “Okay, Mrs. Roberts, good to know. By the way, I didn't do my homework last night."

Funny How Time Slips Away

Written by
Willie Nelson (b. 29 Apr 1933), 1961

Well, hello there.
My, it's been a long, long time
And how am I doing?
Oh, I guess that I'm doing fine.
It's been so long now,
But it seems now that it was only yesterday.
Gee, ain't it funny, how time just slips away?

And how's your new love?
Well, I hope that he's doing fine.
But I heard you told him
That you'd love him till the end of time.
Now, that's the same thing that you told me,
And it seems like only yesterday.
Gee, ain't it funny, how time just slips away?

Well, I gotta go now,
And I guess I'll see you around,
But I don't know when, though,
'Cause I never know when I'll be back in town,
But remember, what I tell you,
That in time you're gonna pay,
And it's surprising, how time just slips away.
