Newport News High School Class of 1956

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

We have more sad news today.

From Fred Mays ('60) of VA - 03/26/06:

Carol:

In the Daily Press today, there is an obituary of a member of the class of 1956. He is: Orville Bon Wolf, Jr.....I did not know him; however,   Patricia Ann Wilmoth Apperson of the same class informed me at church today. I checked the paper and his picture is not there, just the obituary. I verified this by a check in the yearbook. He lived in Weatherford, Texas.

Thank you, Fred.  Our sincerest sympathies are extended to his family and friends.

From Carolyn Simpson Knight ('56) of VA - 03/26/06:

Carol,

Thank you so much for updating us on Orville’s death.  I completely missed it in today’s Daily Press.   He was a special member of our class and we will all miss him.   Thanks again.

Carolyn Simpson Knight

You're quite welcome, Carolyn.  Please accept my deepest sympathies on the loss of your friend.

From Jean Poole Burton ('64) of RI - 03/26/06 - "Orville Bon Wolf":

I did not know "Bon" as he was called but his mother was my sixth grade teacher at Woodrow Wilson (Alice Davis Wolf).  His brother Paul was in my class in the 7th grade at Wilson.  I do not believe Paul attended NNHS but I don't know where he went after 7th.  Mrs. Wolf was a great teacher and had a great dry wit...she also taught my mother when she was a brand new teacher!

WOW.  How we continue to find ways in which our lives were and are intertwined!

   Thanks, Jean.
