Dear Friends and Schoolmates,   

   There is more sad news this Thursday morning. Rachel _____ Melamed, mother of Jacob Melamed ('68) of MD and Dennis Melamed, passed away at her home in Rockville, Maryland on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the age of 96.  

   She was the widow of Moses Melamed (14 Sept 1920 - 03 Dec 1990).

   May her memory be for a blessing always.

  ROCKVILLE, MARYLAND - Rachel Melamed (age 96) passed away peacefully at her home in Rockville, MD on March 17, 2018.

Grave-side services will be held on March 22, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Jewish Cemetery of the Virginia Peninsula, Hampton, VA.

She was the beloved wife of the late Moses Melamed, devoted mother of Jacob Melamed and Dennis Melamed, cherished mother-in-law of Robert Baker and the late Katalin Melamed.

She was born in Vilna, Poland and came to the United States in 1949. She was a survivor of the Stutthof Nazi Concentration Camp.

Memorial contributions may be made to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum, Washington D.C. or the National Yiddish Book Center, Amherst MA. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks
