“As the Earth prepares for Spring,
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
Today is the first day of Spring! While this is in and of itself cause for celebration for all of us, some of us observe it more carefully than others. For those of you just joining us (or who just really, really haven't been paying attention), I'll tell you that Domi O'Brien ('64) of NH is a Druid Priestess. We here like to celebrate and educate (or at least take notice) of all our varied celebrations and observances like the Big Happy Family that we have become.

1. Don Wilson (John Marshall HS - '64), Husband of My Cousin, Cheryl White Wilson (James Blair HS / John Marshall HS - '64) of VA, was supposed to have begun undergoing chemo for esophageal cancer on Tuesday, March 17, but he required more testing first. Now the chemo is scheduled to begin on Monday, March 23. Combined treatments are estimated to last for five more months.
2. My Husband, Paul Harty (Bardolph HS, IL - '61) of NC had another squamous cell carcinoma removed from his face, also on Tuesday, March 17. This time it was not so deep nor so close to his eye that it required hospitalization, as before. Our dermatologist, the delightful Dr. Manfred S. Rothstein, was able to remove it cryogenically in his office as my sister Eleanor Buckley Nowitzky of NC, the Best Dressed Girl in the Class of 1959, and I watched. The prognosis is excellent; he'll return again on May 19 to have it checked.
