Lena 'Mary' M. Newsome Edwards
(17 May 1916 - 2 Mar 2007)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

   We have still more sad news today.

  From Joe Drewry ('58) of VA - 03/01/07 - "Obituary, mother of    Mary Jo Edwards Pope ('58 - of VA)":

I just received word that Mary Jo's mom died in the night.  Although she was 90, she had been in good health.  Mary Jo's dad died last May at 94 and her mother was still living independently near Mary Jo and Bill's Kiln Creek condo.
I believe Mary Jo had visited last evening and her mom was fine when she left.
There will be an obit in the Daily Press.  Tentative plans are to do a visitation Monday night with the funeral Tuesday.

   Thank you, Joe.  I appreciate your sending me this.

The Edwards were, absolutely, the best next door neighbors we ever had. Always there, always a smile and greeting, and they maintained a lovely home. They will both be missed.

Just As I Am

Words by Charlotte Elliott, 1835
Music by William B. Bradbury, 1849

Just as I am, without one plea,
But that Thy blood was shed for me,
And that Thou bidst me come to Thee,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, and waiting not
To rid my soul of one dark blot,
To Thee whose blood can cleanse each spot,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, though tossed about
With many a conflict, many a doubt,
Fightings and fears within, without,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, poor, wretched, blind;
Sight, riches, healing of the mind,
Yea, all I need in Thee to find,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, Thou wilt receive,
Wilt welcome, pardon, cleanse, relieve;
Because Thy promise I believe,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, Thy love unknown
Hath broken every barrier down;
Now, to be Thine, yea, Thine alone,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come.

Just as I am, of that free love
The breadth, length, depth, and height to prove,
Here for a season, then above,
O Lamb of God, I come, I come!
