Entre Nous

“If we knew each other's secrets, what comforts we should find.

- John Churton Collins
(26 Mar 1848 - 25 Sept 1908)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Soooo, how old do you have to be when you consider a song from 1980 to be a "new" one?

BONUS - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sodthxK1z44 - Entre Nous - Rush, 1980

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Entre_Nous_%28song%29:

Entre Nous ("Between Us" in French) is the fourth track on the 1980s album Permanent Waves by progressive rock band Rush. It was also released as a single. The only live performances of the song to date occurred during the 2007 leg of the tour to promote Snakes & Arrows, an album released on May 1 of that year. It was then featured on the live album released on April 15, 2008.

Jokes

The Patio

Neighbors of ours had a terrible disagreement over a patio they wanted for their backyard. The wife had rather grand ideas, while the husband wanted costs kept to a minimum. The wife won out, and the construction bill climbed higher and higher.

I dropped by one day, when the patio was near completion, and was surprised to find the husband smiling from ear to ear as the workmen smoothed over the surface. I remarked how nice it was to see a grin replace the frown he had been wearing lately.

"You see where they're smoothing that cement?" he replied. "I just threw my wife's credit cards in there."

My dog sleeps about 20 hours a day.
He has his food prepared for him.
He can eat whenever he wants.
His meals are provided at no cost to him.
He visits the doctor once a year for his check-up, and again during the year if any medical needs arise.
For this he pays nothing, and nothing is required of him.
He lives in a nice neighbourhood in a house that is much larger than he needs, but he is not required to do any upkeep.
He makes no contribution to the running or maintenance of the house.
If he makes a mess, someone else cleans it up.
He has his choice of luxurious places to sleep. He receives these accommodations absolutely free.
He is living like a King, and has absolutely no expenses what- soever.
All of his costs are picked up by others who go out, work hard, and earn a living every day.
I was just thinking about all this, and suddenly it hit me like a brick in the head...

I think my dog might be in Congress!

---Handy Hints---

Hint 1:

What worked for the Egyptians still works today. Honey's natural antibacterial qualities can make it an option if you need a quick solution to a cut, scrape or burn. Wash the area well with cool water and soap, pat dry, and apply a little bit of honey.

_________________________________________________

Hint 2:

Honey is a mild natural exfoliant, which makes it perfect for your face. Try washing with honey and warm water to enjoy smoother skin and less acne -- it's also a great homemade acne remedy. If you develop a particularly zesty zit, dab some honey on it, leave it for half an hour, and gently rinse off. You may need to repeat a few times for full effect.

Bizarre News

*-- Irving, Texas, resident nominates his dog for mayor --*

IRVING, Texas - An Irving, Texas, man says he has filed a petition to have his dog listed as a candidate for mayor in the town's May 5 election. Political satirist Mark Howard filed the petition Tuesday on behalf of his terrier, Dylan Westie, KTVT-TV, Dallas/Fort Worth, reported. Howard said he has been hanging out at a local coffee shop listening to Irving residents talk about infighting on the Irving city council. "You have two factions doesn't seem to be getting anything done ... that needs to be done," he said. That's when he decided to nominate his dog for mayor. "If you look at all the cat fighting, what better way to solve a cat fight than get a dog in the mix," said Howard. However, the city said that because Dylan isn't a registered voter, he doesn't qualify to be on the ballot.

You Are Not Alone
===============

You are not alone.

You are not alone in suffering.
Most of us suffer in one form or another.

So says scripture:
Man that is born of a woman is of few days, and full of trouble.
(Job 14:1 KJV)

"Seventy years are given to us! Some may even reach eighty. But even the best of these years are filled with pain and trouble; soon they disappear, and we are gone." (Psalms 90:10 NLT)

You are not alone.

"If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever - the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you." (John 14:15-17 NIV)

You are not alone.

God sees, hears, and forgives you.

Often our problem is not with God forgiving us, but in us forgiving ourselves. God has forgiven us long ago, but we still carry the guilt.

Life is not futile, it is full.
It's just that everything in life is not pleasant.

You have considered ending it all. What you have not considered is that ending it may put you in a far worse place.

Believe it, there are much worse places and conditions.

You are ready to give up because you think no one cares.
You honestly feel that you are alone.
If only you could see the angels that surround you.
If only you knew the things that you have been kept from.
If only you knew the disasters you have been protected against.

Soldiers in the natural and the spiritual realms are on duty right now to protect YOU.

When my 13-month-old son is sick, he feels terrible. He wonders why he is sick.

He is unaware of all of the love that surrounds him because he can only feel the pain of his sickness. When he is congested and has trouble breathing; all he knows is that he feels like he is suffocating.

Each breath that you take is a gift.

Even when it is hard to breathe, you are still surrounded by love.

You are not alone. Know this.

To the person who submitted a prayer request to MountainWings in desperation and despair, (you know who you are) and to all others this applies to

...this is for you.

You are not alone.

~A MountainWings Original

    From Jimmy Smith ('62 / '63) of VA - 02/06/14 - "OLD CANS .... (#15 in a Series of 15)":

  OLD CANS!

He used to go to all the public functions...especially the picture theaters. And he always carried a sugar bag to collect empty bottles and cans. His name was... Albert (Tapper) Torney.

Everyone thought he was a bit eccentric and kids would tease and hassle him. Then it was discovered that he sold the empty bottles but only some of the cans.

After he died in 1998 (aged 86) his large collection of model cars made from aluminum cans was discovered.

This goes to prove..."you shouldn't judge a book by its cover" - or a sculptor by his sugar bag. Some of his collection ---- AMAZING!

WOWZERS! Thanks, Jimmy! These have been amazing!

Entre Nous

Lyrics by Neil Peart (b. 12 Sept 1952)

Music composed by Alex Lifeson (b. 27 Aug 1953) and Geddy Lee (b. 29 July 1953)

Recorded by Rush, 1980

We are secrets to each other
Each one's life a novel
No-one else has read
Even joined in bonds of love
We're linked to one another
By such slender threads
We are planets to each other
Drifting in our orbits
To a brief eclipse
Each of us a world apart
Alone and yet together
Like two passing ships

Just between us
I think it's time for us to recognize
the differences we sometimes feared to show
Just between us
I think it's time for us to realize
The spaces in between
Leave room
For you and I to grow

We are strangers to each other
Full of sliding panels
An illusion show
Acting well-rehearsed routines
Or playing from the heart?
It's hard for one to know

Just between us
I think it's time for us to recognize
the differences we sometimes feared to show
Just between us
I think it's time for us to realize
The spaces in between
Leave room
For you and I to grow

We are islands to each other
Building hopeful bridges
On the troubled seas
Some are burned and swept away
Some we would not choose
But we're not always free

Just between us
I think it's time for us to recognize
the differences we sometimes feared to show
Just between us
I think it's time for us to realize
The spaces in between
Leave room
For you and I to grow
