02/24/18 - NNHS Newsletter - Tears

Oh, I am very weary,
Though tears no longer flow;
My eyes are tired of weeping,
My heart is sick of woe
.”

- Anne Brontë
(17 Jan 1820 - 28 May 1849)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

This lovely song is a bit out of character for Rush. I really like it, because you know how I love ballads.

BONUS - Tears - Rush, 1976

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2112_%28album%29:

..."Tears" would be the first Rush song to feature an outside musician. Hugh Syme, who would play keyboards on a number of Rush songs in the future, (e.g., "Different Strings" on Permanent Waves and "Witch Hunt" on Moving Pictures) contributes a multi-tracked Mellotron string and flute part to the track...

From My Cousin, Cheryl White Wilson (James Blair HS / John Marshall HS - '64) of VA - 02/23/15:

“The longer I live, the more I realize the impact of attitude on life. Attitude to me is more important than facts. It is more important than the past, than education, than money, than circumstances, than failures, than success, than what other people think or say or do. It is more important than appearance, gift, or skill. It will make or break a company...a church...a home. The remarkable thing is we have a choice every day regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. We cannot change our past...we cannot change the fact that people will act in a certain way. We cannot change the inevitable. The only thing we can do is play on the string we have, and that is our attitude. I am convinced that life is 10 percent what happens to me and 90 percent how I react to it. And so it is with you... we are in charge of our attitudes.”

- Charles Swindoll

Two old ladies met for the first time since they left school. One asked the other, "You were always so organized in school; did you manage to live a well-planned life?"

"Oh yes," said her friend. "My first marriage was to a millionaire, my second to an actor, third to a preacher, and I'm now married to an undertaker."

Her friend asked, "What do those marriages have to do with a well-planned life?"

"One for the money, two for the show, three to get ready, and four to go!"

Tears

Written by Geddy Lee
(b. 29 July 1953)

Recorded by Rush, 1976

All of the seasons and all of the days
All of the reasons why I've felt this way
So long...
So long

Then lost in that feeling I looked in your eyes
I noticed emotion and that you had cried
For me
I can see

What would touch me deeper...
Tears that fall from eyes that only cry?
Would it touch you deeper
Than tears that fall from eyes that know why?

A lifetime of questions, tears on your cheek
I tasted the answers and my body was weak
For you
The truth

What would touch me deeper...
Tears that fall from eyes that only cry?
Would it touch you deeper
Than tears that fall from eyes that know why?
