02/24/13 - NNHS Newsletter - Tears

Oh, I am very weary,
Though tears no longer flow;
My eyes are tired of weeping,
My heart is sick of woe
.”

- Anne Brontë
(17 Jan 1820 - 28 May 1849)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

This lovely song is a bit out of character for Rush.  I really like it, because you know how I love ballads.

BONUS - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2MrtBAf215g - Tears - Rush, 1976

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2112_%28album%29:

..."Tears" would be the first Rush song to feature an outside musician. Hugh Syme, who would play keyboards on a number of Rush songs in the future, (e.g., "Different Strings" on Permanent Waves and "Witch Hunt" on Moving Pictures) contributes a multi-tracked Mellotron string and flute part to the track...

    Very interesting.... enjoy!

A rarely seen tour of the ISS (International Space Station) by its Commander, Captain Williams, She graduated from the US Naval Academy in the Class of '87. Captain Williams had been aboard for over a half of a year and was about to return home when this was filmed.

Even though you think you might get what weightlessness is all about, I think this will open your eyes to some things you have never thought of.

Commander Williams is Captain "Suni" Williams, and she will give you quite a run down on what it's like to live in outer space.

    Hi Carol

I was going through some of my long over due e-mails and ran across this one that a friend sent thought you and some of our fellow Typhoons might like it. It brought back some good memories. Hope you enjoy some of them too.

    Catherine Slusser Hudson

May be a repeat but who cares.  Can play the music in the background while looking at emails or surfing web.

Lotta' fun and so many great memories.........

    http://www.irishcaper.net/music/TimeMachine.html

This is so neat! It's sort of a time machine of music. Each of the years below connect to that year that is special to you, including the best 20 hits of that year. Pick a year, wait a few seconds, and the Jukebox will show you the 20 hits (Just like a Jukebox of "the day" would). You can play all 20 hits, or just those that you like.

It will also tell you all of the cool stuff that happened that year. So, check out the year you graduated from high school, you were born, got married, etc. Great memories!
Take an awesome trip back to "the day... your day".
Hope you enjoy playing with this very cool toy!

Just "CLICK A YEAR" and have fun. It is waaaaaaay cool!

WOWZERS! This IS cool! Thanks so much, Cathy - great to hear from you!

    FINALLY:

    From www.ajokeaday.com - 02/23/13:

A guy pulled into a crowded parking lot and rolled down the car windows to make sure his dog had fresh air. The dog was stretched out in the back seat, and the guy wanted to impress upon him that he must remain there. The guy walked to the curb backward, pointing his finger at the car and saying emphatically, “Now you stay. Do you hear me? Stay!”

The driver of a nearby car gave the guy a startled look “I don’t know about you, man,” he said incredulously, “but I usually just put my car in park.”

    Tears

    Written by Geddy Lee
    (b. 29 July 1953)

    Recorded by Rush, 1976

All of the seasons and all of the days
All of the reasons why I've felt this way
    So long...
    So long

Then lost in that feeling I looked in your eyes
I noticed emotion and that you had cried
    For me
    I can see

    What would touch me deeper...
Tears that fall from eyes that only cry?
    Would it touch you deeper
Than tears that fall from eyes that know why?

A lifetime of questions, tears on your cheek
I tasted the answers and my body was weak
    For you
    The truth

    What would touch me deeper...
Tears that fall from eyes that only cry?
    Would it touch you deeper
Than tears that fall from eyes that know why?
