Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

I am deeply saddened to bring you this news today.
Marilyn Coombs Adams, mother of My Daughter-in-Law, Laura Adams Harty (Cardston HS, Alberta - '95) of NC, and mother-in-law of   My #2 Son, Brent Harty ( Hillsboro HS, IL - Boy with Best Personality in the Class of 1990) of NC, passed away in Cardston, Alberta, Canada on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at the age of 67.

From My Daughter-in-Law, Laura Adams Harty (Cardston HS, Alberta - '95) of NC - 02/18/19, 5:29 PM:

I love my mom so much. This is a picture of her holding me as a baby. She was so young here. My mom taught me amazing homemaker skills. She was a fierce defender of her children. She was generous with everything she had. I love her so much. I'm coming home to see you one last time while you are on this earth. Wait for me. Mom. XOXO

   Oh, Laura!

From My Daughter-in-Law, Laura Adams Harty (Cardston HS, Alberta - '95) of NC - 02/21/19, 2:11 AM and 02/22/19, 5:13 PM:

My mom, Marilyn Adams, passed very peacefully tonight surrounded by her family. We are sure thankful for all the wonderful people who came to see her, brought us baked food at the hospital, and took care of her in any way these past years. She is without a doubt in a much better place. Love you, Mom.

Here are the details of my mom's funeral service.

I'm so very sorry for your loss, Laura. My mama,   the late Maxine Frix Buckley (John Marshall HS - '25), died on February 15, 1999. Your mama died on February 20, 2019, twenty years and five days apart. I like to think my mama was there waiting to greet yours.

From Legacy Funeral Homes (Alberta) - 02/22/19:

                      Marilyn Coombs Adams

CARDSTON, ALBERTA, CANADA - Marilyn Yvonne Coombs Adams, beloved wife of Phillip Welling Adams, passed away peacefully in the Cardston Hospital on February 20, 2019.

She is survived by their four children, Heather (Ryan) Christensen, Laura (Brent) Harty, Amy (Cody) Beaune, and Phillip Welling Adams, Jr. and his wife Emily (Manzione), 14 grandchildren, siblings and spouses, Dean Martin Coombs, Karen and Bryce Olsen, Marion and Harry Beazer.

Marilyn was born in Bassano, Alberta on July 23, 1951. She lived briefly on a family farm in Rosemary, Alberta, but most of her memories were of growing up in a little white corner home on the East Hill in Cardston, Alberta.

Marilyn was a consummate homemaker. She taught her daughters how to cook and sew and knit and she learned how to do intricate tatting and lace. She loved doing puzzles and playing games. She was very competitive and her laugh was infectious. She loved to visit with friends and made friends easily. Her husband was often impatient with her as he was the first one out the door after church, while she always took her time to visit with everyone on the way out. She was fiercely protective of her little family and deeply devoted to her church. Her beautiful smile and generous and loving nature will be deeply missed by all her friends and family.

Where Can I Turn For Peace?

Words by Emma Lou Thayne (b. 1924)
Music by Jolene G. Meredith (b. 1935)

Where can I turn for peace? Where is my solace
When other sources cease to make me whole?
When with a wounded heart, anger, or malice,
I draw myself apart, Searching my soul?

Where, when my aching grows, Where, when I languish,
Where, in my need to know, where can I run?
Where is the quiet hand to calm my anguish?
Who, who can understand? He, only One.

He answers privately, Reaches my reaching
In my Gethsemane, Savior and Friend.
Gentle the peace he finds for my beseeching.
Constant he is and kind, Love without end.
