“All I know is that you love me...in my dreams.”
Dear Friends and Schoolmates,
Today's theme is prompted by my state of mind for the past couple of weeks.....
BONUS #1 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTsvs-pAGDc - Dazed and Confused - Jake Holmes, June 1967 (no video)
BONUS #2 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lkb1R_yif9I - Dazed and Confused - Led Zeppelin, Supershow, 1969
|"Dazed and Confused" is a song originally written
and performed by
Jake Holmes. It was covered by
the Yardbirds, and later reworked by
Led Zeppelin who hold a separate copyright on the song.
Singer-songwriter Jake Holmes wrote and recorded "Dazed and Confused" for his debut solo album "The Above Ground Sound" of Jake Holmes, released in June 1967. Like the other tracks on the album, the song does not include any drums. It was recorded entirely with the trio of Holmes on guitar, keyboard and vocals, Ted Irwin on guitar and Rick Randle on bass. The song has been incorrectly labelled as a tale about a bad acid trip. Holmes himself has confirmed that this is not the case. In 2001 he gave an interview to Shindig! magazine and said this about "Dazed and Confused":
In June 2010, Jake Holmes sued Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page for copyright infringement, claiming to have written and recorded "Dazed and Confused" two years before it appeared on Led Zeppelin's debut album. In court documents Holmes cited a 1967 copyright registration for "Dazed and Confused" which was renewed in 1995. This court case (Case No. CV10-4789-DMG-PJW) was "dismissed with prejudice", presumably because the parties settled out of court—in January 2012.
..... The song is included in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.

|This is neat!
This is absolutely brilliant .......
Somebody had a lot of fun with this and spent hours putting these clips together. Most of the people in the clips were deceased before the Bee Gee's recorded "Stayin' Alive." Whether you are a Bee Gee's or Rita Hayworth fan or not...I think you are going to enjoy this!!! It shows one thing and that is the music may change but the moves are timeless.

This is fabulous, Billy - thank you so much!
From Joyce Lawrence Cahoon ('65) of VA - 02/02/13 - "1910":
|I don't know if
all these statistics are accurate but they are interesting. My dad was
born in 1910 so of course they're interesting to me and maybe to some of
you in my age bracket.
Thank you, Joyce! I was unable to find out if this was true or not, either, but it's certainly fascinating!
From the Head Flagtwirler of 1965, Janice McCain Roseof Northern VA - 02/02/13 - "TAKE MY A** TO JAIL!":
A Virginia State trooper pulled a car over on I-64 about 2 miles south of
the Virginia/ West Virginia State line. When the trooper asked the driver
why he was speeding, the driver said he was a Magician and Juggler and was
on his way to Beckley, WV to do a show at the Shrine Circus. He didn't want
to be late.
The trooper told the driver he was fascinated by juggling and said if the driver would do a little juggling for him then he wouldn't give him a ticket. He told the trooper he had sent his equipment ahead and didn't have anything to juggle.
The trooper said he had some flares in the trunk and asked if he could juggle them. The juggler said he could, so the trooper got 5 flares, lit them and handed them to him.
While the man was juggling, a car pulled in behind the patrol car. A drunken good old boy from West Virginia got out, watched the performance, then went over to the patrol car, opened the rear door and got in. The trooper observed him and went over to the patrol car, opened the door asking the drunk what he thought he was doing.
The drunk replied, 'You might as well take my a** to jail, cause there ain't no way I can pass that test.'
From Joyce Lawrence Cahoon ('65) of VA - 02/02/13 - "TO OLD FRIENDS":
TODAY IS THE
OLDEST YOU'VE EVER BEEN, YET THE YOUNGEST YOU'LL EVER BE - SO - ENJOY
THIS DAY WHILE IT LASTS.
|AMEN! Thanks again, Joyce!|
BONUS VALENTINE CROCHET PATTERN (Wal, you wouldn't want a confusing pattern, would ja? ):
|http://www.redheart.com/free-patterns/tree-hearts - Linda Cyr's Tree Hearts - This was one of my favorite, most adaptable patterns from a while back; I also featured it here:|
It's quite pretty made with worsted
weight yarn, but when worked with two strands of #10 crochet thread held
together using a size B crochet hook, it creates a very elegant heart -
and as suitable for Valentine's Day as for Christmas!
The design works up quickly. It takes me about an hour a heart - and I am a super-slow crocheter (despite 55 years of practice)! I used 1/4" white ribbon to trim these smaller versions, which are about 2'' high and 3" wide.
BONUS DAZED RECIPE:

www.ajokeaday.com - 02/02/13:
An obnoxious drunk stumbled into the front door of a bar and ordered a drink.
bartender said, "No way, buddy, you're too drunk."
bartender said, "No,
man, I told you last time; you're too drunk."
the bartender said, "You're too drunk."
