Wherever You Will Go

... Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee:
for whither thou goest, I will go...

- Ruth 1: 16

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Today's midi is probably a karaoke version rather than the full score, but I rather like it anyway.

From Joe Madagan ('57) of FL -  01/29/08:

Hi, Carol:
Like swimming or riding a bicycle, ehhh? You have excellent computer skills, kid.
You would have been far more successful in learning to swim if you could have seen the Swimming Instructor during the course of instruction. Little did I realize you had a vision problem that was preventing you from seeing the demonstrations until your dear mother told me that you needed your glasses to see the demonstrations.
I am sure you do not realize that I "broke the rules" to allow you to wear your glasses during instruction, but it was too late in the process by the time we communicated to resolve the difficulty.

Oh, WOWZERS!!! No, Sweet Adonis, I did NOT realize that! Thanks so much! Even after nearly 52 years, I do so appreciate your incredible thoughtness!

Maybe you should have been in   Johnny Mitchell's ('57 - of VA) class and received better instruction and you would be swimming for fun today.

I somehow doubt that Johnny could have been nearly as patient with me as you were; your instruction was quite excellent.

Sure good to see Bill Roady ('60 - of VA) is participating along with the Typhoon Nation. Before he moved to the upper class neighborhood of Christopher Shores, he lived with his grandparents in East End on Marshall Avenue. All the kids in the neighborhood would assemble at his grandparents place to watch "Lights Out" and other TV shows since none of us had a television set at home. Mr.& Mrs. Roady were gracious to entertain all of the neighbors so we could see that new invention called television. When I tell my grandchildren I can remember when TV was invented, they give me that special look. Doncha know.
TYPHOON Regards,
Joe Madagan ('57) of FL

   Thanks again, Joe!

From Bob Cook ('67) of  VA - 01/29/09:

I'm trying to track down Tensye Wilson, Class of 1967. Do you know who I can contact that may have contact information?
Yours truly,
Bob Cook

Hmmm. I would tend to think that   Marty Whitmore McCoy and Melissa Moody know more about the whereabouts of your classmates than anyone else, Bob. Why doncha drop Marty a line at ?

From Jean Poole Burton ('64) of RI - 01/29/08 - "Tell     Joe Madagan (and those other Floridians...)":

That we in RI have not seen our lawns since New Year' snowstorm after another for about four weeks now.  Luckily I like the snow and even like shoveling the snow!!!  We are having a real New England Winter this power outages so far, thankfully!

Typhoon Forever

Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we are here we might as well dance.

OH, NOOO!!! I am so sorry to hear this heartbreaking news! Please extend to Patsy and Bob our deepest sympathies - and thank you for letting me know what my eyes refused to believe, Brenda.

From Linda Lane Lane ('64) of VA - 01/29/08 - "Welcome Back":

I sure have missed you.  This will be a good move for you and        Paul (Harty - Bardolph HS, IL - '61 - of IL).  Personally, I wish you weren't so far away.  When we moved to Williamsburg 12 years ago, I swore the next move would be to the nursing home or funeral home.  After spending a month in Florida, I'm about to rethink that decision.  Maybe, we could become snowbirds.  If you get close to Williamsburg, call me and I will pick you up for a long visit.
Love, Linda L. Lane

Thanks, Linda-Linda - for everything! I have felt mightily disconnected myself!

   From F.A. Saunders (Hampton HS - '64) of VA - 01/29/08 - "       Don Jett (NNHS / Warwick HS - '60 - of VA)":

Just wanted to say thanks for the newsletter a couple of days ago. I saw a message from Don Jett and was able to share a memory from the past with him. We used to work together in Hull Design. Here is the link to the page that has the video I posted a few months ago, Don. Just go there and  scroll down and you will see some interesting videos of the Old Newport News you knew so well.
F.A. Saunders

I just LOVE the reconnection stories! Thanks, F.A.!

From Christine Wilson Starkman ('68) of CA - 01/29/08:

From David Whitley ('67) of VA - 01/29/08 -"Husband Down":

A husband and wife are shopping in their local Wal-Mart. The husband picks up a case of Budweiser and puts it in their cart.

'What do you think you're doing?' asks the wife.

'They're on sale, only $10 for 24 cans,' he replies.

'Put them back, we can't afford them,' demands the wife, so they continue shopping.

A few aisles further, the woman picks up a $20 jar of face cream and puts it in the basket.

'What do you think you're doing?' asks the husband.

'It's my face cream. It makes me look beautiful,' replies the wife.
Her husband retorts: 'So does 24 cans of Budweiser, and it's half the price.'

Shortly thereafter on the PA system: 'Cleanup needed on aisle 25, we have a husband down.'

Now that there is funny. I don't care who you are!

   Thanks, Gorgeous!

Wherever You Will Go

- Aaron Kamin
(b. 10 Aug 1977)

(The Calling), 2001

So lately, I've been wonderin'
Who will be there to take my place
When I'm gone, you'll need love
To light the shadows on your face
If a great wave should fall
It would fall upon us all
And between the sand and stone
Could you make it on your own

If I could, then I would
I'll go wherever you will go
Way up high or down low
I'll go wherever you will go

And maybe, I'll find out
The way to make it back someday
To watch you, to guide you
Through the darkest of your days
If a great wave should fall
It would fall upon us all
Well I hope there's someone out there
Who can bring me back to you

Runaway with my heart
Runaway with my hope
Runaway with my love

I know now, just quite how
My life and love might still go on
In your heart and your mind
I'll stay with you for all of time

If I could turn back time
I'll go wherever you will go
If I could make you mine
I'll go wherever you will go
