Dancing Doll

The 'feminine' woman is forever static and childlike. She is like the ballerina
in an old-fashioned music box, her unchanging features tiny and girlish,
her voice tinkly, her body stuck on a pin, rotating in a spiral that will never grow.

- Susan Faludi
(b. 18 Apr 1959)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

Today's theme is a first for us. It was composed and sequenced by Belinda Hadiwidjaja of Jakarta, Indonesia when she only 17.  Sadly, her sponsors and fans have not been able to locate this multi-talented young woman for several years now.....

From Joe Madagan ('57) of FL - 01/09/10 - "Suggestion for theme music.":

Hi, Carol:

May I suggest that you consider the song "Ordinary Lives" by the Bee Gees as a theme for one of your Newsletters?
The line in the song "Ordinary People living Ordinary Lives" somehow seems to apply to our youth in Newport News.

One very hot evening in Philadelphia, at an outdoor venue while watching and listening to Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb sing this song it struck me as being almost ironic. They were hardly ordinary people living ordinary lives as they withstood the oppressive heat and humidity to carry on the concert and give it their all to entertain the audience. I sure miss the creative music of this group. This song was from their album "One."

Hope this suggestion is not too corny.

TYPHOON Regards,
Joe Madagan ('57) of FL

Corny? I wouldn't know. Being one of the corniest people around myself, I am unable to recognize it as it exists elsewhere.....

Thanks, Adonis! We'll be using this theme very, very soon now!

From Judy Phillips Allen ('66) of VA - 01/09/10 - "Neat story, especially for all you dog lovers":

Goooo Class of 64

In light of the fact that it took me three full months to process and post all your lovely images, that was an interesting choice of words, Cookie, but here they are at last:

FINALLY:

From ArcaMax Jokes - 01/09/09:

Three's a Crowd

The newlywed wife said to her husband when he returned from work, "I have great news for you. Pretty soon, we're going to be three in this house instead of two."

Her husband ran to her with a smile on his face and delight in his eyes.

He was glowing of happiness and kissing his wife when she said, "I'm glad that you feel this way since tomorrow morning, my mother moves in with us."
