01/03/17 - NNHS Newsletter - Forgotten Dreams

“There are many ways of breaking a heart.
Stories were full of hearts being broken by love,
but what really broke a heart was taking away
its dream - whatever that dream might be.”

- Pearl S. Buck
(26 June 1892 - 06 Mar 1973)

Dear Friends and Schoolmates,

True dreams should never be forgotten, not really.....

BONUS - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jHPJJKVt5-Y - Forgotten Dreams - Leroy Anderson - gorgeous video!

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Leroy_Anderson:

...In 2006, one of his piano works, "Forgotten Dreams", written in 1954, became the background for a British TV advertisement for mobile phone company '3'. Previously, Los Angeles station KABC-TV used the song as its sign-off theme at the end of broadcast days in the 1980s, and Mantovani's recording of the song had been the closing theme for WABC-TV's "Eyewitness News" for much of the 1970s...

This event effectively ended the concept of unified commands.

Dear Carol,

Wishing all our sweet 'hs cronies' many Blessings in this wonderful New Year 2017!!

I am so sorry, Carol, to learn that your Paul is in hospital with a serious condition. Please know that I will hold Paul, and all our friends who are suffering and burdened, in prayer and in daily Mass for healing and blessings. May the precious Christ Child Jesus hold us all close in all our days!

From Jimmy Hines ('64) of VA - 01/02/17, 11:29 PM:

I hope Paul recovers well...

Jimmy

Thank you so very much, Shari, Bonnie, and Santa Jim! We are all praying that the powerful regimen of antibiotics and other treatments he's receiving will prove effective. We have the impression that our lives are about to change dramatically. For at least the last couple of years, Paul has been my caretaker; now we are going to have to consider other options, but I just received word that he'll be able to return home today!

BONUS CROCHET PATTERNS (To warm your grandchildren in January):

Kinga Erdem's Tiptoe Slippers - "These little booties are the perfect slippers for toddler feet. Soft and comfy, these Tiptoe Slippers feature three colors. The combination on the example (white, green, and pink) looks adorable, but they could be worked up in any colors. They would be charming in holiday hues or in three shades of the same color. If you plan on having your little one run around the house in these, add some grip to the bottom with puffy paint or dots of hot glue. Yarn can be super slippery."

Gumdrop Kids Hat - "Just because the winter months mean grey and dreary weather doesn't mean we can't add a splash of color to the world. This Gumdrop Kids Hat looks amazing with a medley of bright colors, especially pinks and yellows. Any little girl or boy would be thrilled to show this hat off on the playground at school. Although this free crochet pattern is a little more involved than other crochet hat patterns, it is well worth the extra work. Tight stitches make for a thicker, warmer hat. Plus, the comfy ear flaps protect little ears from the wind.":

Stacey Lynn's Pancake Scarf - "Are you a breakfast person, and don't care who knows it? Then this Pancake Scarf pattern is perfect for you! Made with honey brown yarn, this silly scarf works up quickly, and will make an amazing conversation piece. The yellow butter circles added to every other pancake really make the scarf, transforming it from a brown scarf to a pancake lanyard. This free crochet pattern can be worked up to any length; just keep crocheting pancakes until you hit the desired length. This scarf makes a really unique gift. Consider giving it with a brunch gift certificate or pancake mix."

“In your heart, keep one still, secret spot where dreams may go and sheltered so may thrive and grow.”

- Louise Driscoll

FINALLY:

From www.ajokeaday.com - 01/01/17:

A bank robber pulled out a gun, pointed it at the teller, and demanded, "Give me all the money or you're geography!"

The puzzled teller replied, "Did you mean to say 'or you're history?'"

The robber sputtered, "Don't change the subject!"
