Dear Friends and Schoolmates,   

   We have yet another sad edition of the NNHS Newsletter today.      Tommy Gaskins, Class of 1969, brother of Harold Gaskins of VA and    Gail Gaskins Roberson ('58) of NC, passed away in Newport News at the age of 59.

NEWPORT NEWS — Thomas Wayne Gaskins, 59, longtime security officer for the Dominion Virginia Power Surry Nuclear Power Plant, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions.

    NEWPORT NEWS - Thomas Wayne Gaskins, 59, died Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008.

A native of Newport News, he was a longtime security officer for the Dominion Virginia Power Surry Nuclear Power Plant. He was very proud of his service to his country in the Army during Vietnam and was the recipient of a Bronze Star. He was a member of the VFW post 8545 in Smithfield.

Preceded in death by his daughter, Elizabeth Gail Gaskins; survivors include his wife of 30 years, Mary C, Gaskins; two daughters, Wendy Gaskins Higginbotham of Fishersville and Sara B. Gaskins of Newport News; his son, Jonathan Wayne Gaskins of Alexandria; his sister, Gail Gaskins Roberson of N.C.; and his brother, K. Harold Gaskins of Hampton; and two granddaughters, Kasey and Rachel Nye.

A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009, at Berceuse Funeral and Cremation Traditions, 2609 Cunningham Drive, Hampton, by Pastor Brent Seusy.

Memorials may be made to Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 1589 Steeple Drive, Suffolk, VA 23433.
